I'm in Texas working. My Wife picked it up this morning. Probably going to send it to Spencer, let him go through it and fix the discolored marker.

I seem to remember Rene had an Arnie, and it too had one discolored marker. I did a restoration on an Arnie this last Spring that had a major battery leak. The :25 and :15 markers were black, and the marker at :20 (ground zero for an Arnie battery leak) was gone completely along with the dial paint underneath it. Looking at this shot I'd hope that the damage is minimal. The marker is only slightly discolored. But you just never know with a battery leak. Acid moves everywhere, crystals of it lodge all over the place. I really want to get this watch open ASAP.

Great find Cat. Craigslist around me is pretty useless too. They even have someone selling replica rolex watches... ridiculous.

So the Arnie was care flighted to the Seiko Clinic in FT. Collins, CO. Where Seiko specialist Doc. Klein examined the patient. The diagnosis, well, some good & some bad. It will run again and it will look great again.

Oh my, a donor is in order, I assume?
Rob
You are lucky the dial survived with no major staining.

From what i've read the H556 or H557 movements are straight drop in doner movements for the Arnie's.
No craig's list here in Finland. So no lucky finds for me. It will be a good one once you get it up and running again.

Oh damn, that's too bad. Sometimes a deal, turns into not such a great deal after all. I know Spencer will get it all dialed in for you, can't wait to see it finished.

Good news my fellow WIS's. A full transplant is not necessary, as bad as it looks only reconstructive surgery with some NOS replacement parts should have the movement in good shape. Circuit board & LCD appear to be OK at this point, future testing will confirm this. Some reconstructive surgery is being performed on Arnie's face Here is some of the reconstructive work Doc. Spencer is vey confident Arnie will recover and enjoy a long life on the wrist of a WIS.

It will be a good one once you get it up and running again. Not the H557s, they're a different size. A lot of the components will swap over, but not the critical stuff that matters. The spacer, which is the black thing the movement is built on/around, is made of a fibrous resin that disintegrates when exposed to battery acid. And that's what has happened here, among other things. They just come to pieces. So, while the 557s are by far the easiest to find, they're not a swap. However, I've found an NOS spacer, and have most of the other components, so I'll be doing a fresh build using some of Stephen's parts but mostly my own, plus some NOS items. That's a really crappy picture of the semi-finished dial, don't take that as what it looks like now. iPhones in bad light take bad pictures. Being a bad photographer doesn't help.
