Although this is a tired old non-runner (the watch, not me....) this Autodater from 1965 has a nice feature. The 12, 6 and 9 o'clock hour markers look as though they are bonded to the underside of the crystal, and cast a shadow on the dial : Here's a closer look at the design: I've got a vague recollection of seeing a Seiko with similar markers, but I'm not sure. Has anyone seen it on another model? Stephen

The early/mid 2000s Tissot PRS516 had indices like that. I agree that it is a very attractive look and increases the visual interest of the dial.

WOW . . . that is unique and unusual . . . I like how the markers cast a shadow on the dial.

Hi Stephen!! Good to see you here as well... OK, I love that look with the "floating" markers. It reminds me of a Seiko Advan that has the text printed on the back side of the crystal. I have one, but the text was polished off (likely it had started flaking off over the years and someone removed the rest during a restore). Here goes - catalog shot of how it should look (1st 2 examples in top left): And, as I have it: Also note that the "gold" on the bezel was polished off (likely it was substantially/partly brassed & not looking so good). But, it's a beauty - even if not fully original. Even came on correct original bracelet! I do love those "funky" 70s designs, I like the "3 dimensional" aspect of a lot of the dial/marker designs. I just go very "easy" on getting them for my collection - the vast majority are more "normal" or "classic" designs. Another of mine, a 6106 Advan with a quite "3 dimensional" look to the dial. Faceted crystal helps w/ that effect too! And, another "3D" dial ... I call it a "Honeycomb" dial on a 5216 LM Special: Better view with a flat crystal on: You get a better view of the "monument markers". And another of my LM Specials with very 3 Dimensional monument markers: Anyway: Thanks for showing that Citizen off!

Seiko had one or 2 like that.
I believe they were lumed on the underside of the markers. I guess they were banking on the light reflecting off of the dial and hitting the hidden lume to charge it.
