Some differences of opinion (but quite civilized) over the winning entry of the last photo contest. Disclaimer: Other than viewing, I have no interest in the watch photo contest and do not agree or disagree with the posted comments. It does illustrate, IMHO, that in the running of any contest, it is impossible to please everyone.
"Hello!! Though the winner “photograph“ is really nice, very original, and probably represented a lot of work for the author, IMHO it has very little of what we generally call a photograph. It is a wonderful computer work/art, but I can not call it a photograph. I find accepting this kind of art and more, prizing it, not fair. Just my opinion ." "If it was an original i could at least see some merit. Unless I'm reading the rules incorrectly, it also breaks rule #8 of the contest. The original image used here is not the work of the contestant, it is the work of M.C. Escher with a watch Photoshopped onto the wrist."

The winning picture is really no different than photographing a watch against a magazine, painting or other backdrop. The focus of the winning picture is the watch since this is a 'watch' photography contest. The theme of the contest was 'creativity' which this picture more than adequately covered. As to being unfair; that is simply in the eyes of one person who may have been a contestant and didn't win or someone who felt another picture should have won. Fortunately the vast majority of people who voted chose the winning picture so anything else is just sour grapes.
