For the record beejoop4 only sells watches cobbled together out of spare parts and aftermarket parts. His watches fetch fortunes which makes me sick! I'd like to flatten his theiving nose across his face. In my opinion there are 'not' many nice 6139s on evilBay. There are a lot of watches made up out of spares but during the course of a week I reckon I only see 1 or 2 nice examples you could say for sure are genuine and not made up out of aftermarket crap such as beejoop4 watches are. I see a lot of watches with aftermarket dials or repolished cases which have been spun up in a lathe rather than using the correct flapper wheel to give the brush metal finish. A lot of the 6139-600x's I see on WRUW threads are incorrect and made up out of spare parts. I just keep quiet as I do not want to upset folk. What we need on this forum is a real good spotters guide for various models of Seiko and what to look out for. I have this feature on my antique clock website and it brings in loads of visitors throughout the world. That said America gets a much nicer choice of 6139s due to that crap Global Shipping Program they run in the USA and it cutting off the rest of the world from buying watches that are listed on evilBay.com. Here in the UK Pogues fetch a lot more than they do in the states which is generally the rule for these models. This is why I do not allow anyone from the states to buy my watches when I list them on evilBay. If I cannot buy from the states, the states cannot buy from me! No big loss for the states but still gives me a warm feeling inside! 'Beejoo' is not the greatest seller, to be sure. But you gotta admit...he/she knows how to play the game. Auctions like this demonstrate that people are willing to pay good money for what they think is a top-shelf 6139 if it is presented properly. There are others on Ebay which have sold for similar amounts, these were just amongst the first few I saw. It is amazing what some good pictures and a salesman's touch can do for one of these watches. Funny you should mention your "embargo" on us poor Yankees. I honestly don't like buying from the UK because you guys get kinda rapey with your shipping charges. Seems like everything costs me at least $30 to have sent out of your country! You're joking aren't you, i just got quoted $99US to ship a pair of LED globes for my Maglite! Just looking now at 6139's in the US and the postage varies from $15 to $50 so not so stable postage

I've been collecting for quite some time. Prices are definitely up when comparing quality pieces. Junk is junk and good original examples are harder and harder to find. They are selling for a higher premium. As time goes on prices will increase on nice original examples. Are there still bargains out there? You Betcha! But they are few and far between. There are not as many deals as there used to be. I have yet to take a loss on any of the watches that I've decided to let go......... Agree 100% As a matter of fact I've not only not taken a hit on anything I have onsold I have actually made good money that has let me find those special peices Cheers Mark

I brought a mug with a puddy cat on it from the states on evilBay a couple of years ago. I placed my order here in the UK at 19:30GMT. My postman arrived with a package the next morning at around 07:00GMT and yep it was the puddy cat mug!

Even the Couch Potato...... Still wishing I hadn't let it go! That's good because I thought it was a very good deal on my part. I hope it helps you to know that it is well loved and gets worn in my regular rotation.

This is "The Couch Potato": Tom sold it to me a while ago and told me the back story. IIRC (and Tom can fill in the blanks) Tom bought it on ebay many years ago. The seller told Tom that the watch was purchased new but lost in some couch cushions shortly after purchase. It sat in the couch for many years but when found was put on ebay for sale. Tom bought it and held on to it. He offered it to me for a very nice (but not cheap) price when I put a WTB on TOF. He then realized what he had done and had remorse before we had consummated the deal. Being a true gentleman and a man of his word, he went through with the deal as we originally negotiated it. It's an amazing watch! It's all original except for a NOS crystal that Tom swapped in. The lume still glows a little bit and for a short time but it still does what Seiko made it to do. The watch looks great, keeps excellent time and is definitely one of my favorites. It rides on an East Tech H-link that I bought from Jonathan. I think I told Tom he could have right of first refusal if I ever decided to move it on but seriously, I don't think that would happen unless something really bad happens to me or my family (God forbid!).
