I got interested watches and working on watches when my son showed me my old boot camp watch(6139-6005) that I passed on to him. The crown had broke off. I did some online research and found a watch doctor in Florida that repairs seikos. I sent the watch to him for service. While I was doing the reseach I found some watch forums that had a wealth of info. Since I was a mechanic I naturally wanted to mess with the tiny machines and soon bought a tool kit to get started. I remember thinking I was all that and a bag of chips becuz I removed the case back. lol I've been servicing my own movements doing my own work now for 5 years. I've done various movements and find the 6139 and the 4006 the most challenging. Forums like these speed the learning curve considerably. The internet has made it possible to get into this hobby, for without it, I'd never would have access to the information and parts to enjoy this hobby. I'm looking forward to coming here and learning more.

welcome1Doug! We can never have too many self taught watch wranglers. There are many here who do their own servicing and repairs as well as a few who do it professionally. This is a one stop shop for watch fanatics 7dfe79adc2f0

Welcome, Doug! If it's not rude to ask, who in Florida is doing the repair work for you?

Ken Stetzer, He also spent some time answering my questions when I first got started. He's ex navy and I'm a retired Coastie so we had some inter-service rivalery going on.
