Nice shape on both of those from the pics!! Congrats!!
I too have one of the squarish models:
It must be a scanner shot as the second hand is really NOT bent & jagged like the photo shows.
Got it many years ago from Singapore (but was offered on eBay US). I think after shipping & other expenses I paid about US$70 in either 2001 or 2002 (would have to hunt thru the notes to be sure though).
I got more nice ones (different models) from 2 Singapore based sellers (NOT on eBay) in early 2000s:
1. "Spaceman" as the seller dubbed it:
2. A "Military look" or "stealth" 8100, even came on the original strap!!
3. From another seller in Singapore, a Frankened 8100
He thought it was "original" like this but I pointed out to him the double tach scale - one on dial, the other on the exterior bezel. Told him the bezel came from the "Spaceman" style & got this one for a hefty discount. It really should have a rather plain conical bezel on it.
Other than the wrong bezel, it is in quite nice shape. I actually like the look better with the wrong bezel & I think that bezel is rarer than the "correct" one as well!!
4. From an eBay seller in Israel. This was one of his shots of it, the black "Speedy". Looked like crap. I got it rather cheap & in person it's quite nice!
Was a reasonable price even after funds transfer fees & shipping.
One very unusual feature ... it follows Middle Eastern custom for day/date rollover. Instead of midnight, the date/day rolls over for sunset (well, an average sunset time of 6PM anyway). Not sure if Citizen did it that way @ factory, or if some local watchmaker customized it for the local custom.
From the back (seller's lousy shot again):
Never did get a "Volcano" (as I call the 8110 you show 1st) ... they were among the most common types available when I was collecting them in 2001 & 2002 time-frame, so I went with other, harder-to-find kinds instead!
Speaking of which, this is what I mean ... this is my 1 other Citizen Chronograph, or should I say, "Chronostop" as it is seconds-only:
This one was from US eBay but from a seller in the UK. It is NOT automatic as you can see! It is a calibre 5700 and it is in the "Rally Custom" case style!! The weak point of these is the tach bezel, note the wear around the outer edge of the bezel. Unlike the Seiko 6138s & 701x's with these external tach bezels, Citizen didn't put a protective metal "band" there, so the edge wears quite badly. The "Speedy" though is made more like the Seikos, it seems to have an insert & thus is protected by a metal band or edge surrounding the actual tach track.
But, enjoy your two!! I expect you'll be adding to the collection as well???!!!!
