Hi. Not a monster as far as I am concerned and not a diver either. Seiko actually put diver on watches they design to be submersed. No way I would use one of my 6309's for diving anymore either. Cheers Phil

Sorry for any confusion...
I am a massive fan of the Seiko divers 1965-1985 however with the exception of the MM300, I have struggled to find a more modern diving watch of the simplicity and quality that I feel i deserve !
Listen - If anyone likes any watch (even monsters!) then on you go - enjoy!
As I said, I'm just not taken by many of the the more recent diving designs - they seem to lack sufficient reference to the history of the marque - the SUMO is a great dive watch, the Tuna's are still going strong, but the Monsters don't do anything for me - however - each to their own and I 'll shut up now!

I was just having a little fun at your expense....no offense intended.

Hi. At the end of the day, a true divers watch is a tool watch, so function takes over from form. One of the big advantages of the monster is that bezel can still be easily used with a gloved hand and the lume is strong in murky water for the length of a normal dive When I dived regularly, the dive watch came off with the other dive gear and dress watch went back on the wrist. The dive watch also had a hand wind capability as we would make sure it was fully wound before use. These days most divers only use them for backup to a dive computer like a Suunto. Cheers Phil

Any approach by a 'gloved hand' would always strike fear - especially in murky water!

Yeah, know what you mean but gloves needed to handle crayfish, crabs, abalone and speared fish. Cheers Phil

I know it seems petty, but I've never been keen on that 5 logo. Other than that, they look ok. Same here. The 5 logo and 100m rating screams bargain basement to me but I know this watch is so much better than that. Ditch the 5, print 200m on the dial and up the rrp by 50% so that it sits alongside the regular Monsters and suddenly its much more attractive.

Except for the fugly Monster hands I think those are winners :winner:
I love the polished / gold indices on the dial in the background with the stacked 3D lume.
I like the no shroud look.
I love the painted indices on the bezel.
I don't like the red one and I'm sure Seiko will come ou with a PVD cased one and the bezel will be black with white indices which would be the perfect MOD for the SS one along with some different hands.

Is that really considered a Monster? It's only a 100M watch and I thought Monsters were 200M. I do like the one with the silver bezel though. 'Zactly what I was thinking, these shouldn't be classified as Monsters just because they share the same hands. They are just another "Sports" offering. 100M, crown at 3, no partial shroud, "5" branding... If it doesn't quack like a duck..... But damn, I gotta get me one of them blue jobbies. Not a Monster at all; just another one of Seiko's parts bin frankenswatches.

Pretty nice looking, I just wish they did not have the 5 on the dial and maybe make them divers with 200m WR.
