I just sat here waiting for my atomic source (time.is) to hit the minute to which I was syncing the 6138 I am wearing so that I could set the watch and start some formal observations (been wearing all week just to get broken in post service).
Then I sat here for another full minute until the time source hit zero to start the chrono running. Why? Because knowing that I had started it potentially a full second after I had set the primary time would drive me crazy - even though the two do not mechanically connect to one another.
What's your personal high water mark for anal WIS behaviour?

I'm right there with you...When setting the watch of the day, I set it to the very second (also on time.is). If for some reason I miss the mark, I wait for the next minute.

Hopefully no WIS lynch mob will track me down. I set mine to whatever clock I'm near, the stove or microwave sometimes my phone cable box or TV depends because they both show different times. The atomic clock, hmmm I may try that one but then I have to walk downstairs.

I use the online analog clock on my laptop. It mimics the one-second-per beat of a quartz, and I sync using that. And then I typically forget to ever check how said watch is doing, if it's mine.

I like watches and clocks and like them to run accurately but the exact time does not bother me so like catcicker I use whatever is available, usually my bedside clock or the computer.

On Setting up my watchs I have been know on many occasions to wear 2 watch usually either my Omega Polprof or my Tag Heuer Aquagraph both of these keep COSC Specs and then timing my other watches by them it's funny to see people at work when they ask me why I am wearing two watches but after a bit of an explanation there all good. I make the adjustments then wear them for a few days again and watch whats happening time wise.
One day I will have to buy myself a timegraph, and over the years I have worked out that in some instances no matter what adjustments you make a good service and regulation is a must.
Cheers Mark

As we can see, we all have it and yes, I set mine to the second to accurately check time keeping. Definition of IDIOT SAVANT 1 : a person affected with a mental disability (as autism or mental retardation) who exhibits exceptional skill or brilliance in some limited field (as mathematics or music) βcalled also savant 2 : a person who is highly knowledgeable about one subject but knows little about anything else That's US Guys!

I think you guys are missing the point. I don't consider setting a watch to a reference source from which I know it is going to deviate anyway anal or even abnormal (which says something about me). It's the starting of the chrono as a separate process in sync with the referenced time source even though: - A) it is not mechanically linked to the time keeping of the watch
- B) it's going to drift from being in sync with the referenced time anyway as that is the nature of a 40 year old mechanical chronograph
These are the little things that make me wonder, who am I and how did I come to this state and how come my support system is just a group of fellow enablers? Oh well, at least when the day comes that I completely lose it nobody will say "He was always such a quiet type". They'll all be saying "Yeah, he was a real nutbag, always running his mouth, and all those damn watches..."
