I have a Grand Seiko Quartz 4843-5100 serial number 741063 that I just done a deal with but I am having a bit of trouble with the crystal. Basically it has a crystal that I 'think' is the correct item but it does not fit tight into the bezel. It just falls out. I've been told there should be a gasket but I did not get one with the watch. At the moment the crystal is not tight when placed into the bezel recess but it's not a bad fit either and I think if there was a gasket that is missing that would likely take up the little slack that is present and obviously keep water at bay. This is the same model as my GS... I've been told by Stefan he can't even find the part numbers for the crystal or gasket and the watch is likely a JDM watch hence why he cannot help me. The watch is pretty much scrap without this so any help would be appreciated! I'm after part numbers or a supplier that might be able to help me. Thanks for reading about my Seiko woes, Tony

Hey Tony, What year is the watch from? Does it have a 2 letter code after the case number on the case back? If so, I have a casing guide that may give a parts breakdown.
I found this for the crystal number: SA0W46GN00 SEK CS#4842-5010 SEIKO CASE REFERENCE SEK CS#4842-5100 SEIKO CASE REFERENCE SEK CS#4843-5010 SEIKO CASE REFERENCE SEK CS#4843-5100 SEIKO CASE REFERENCE SEK CS#5606-5230 SEIKO CASE REFERENCE

I found that on info also but it doesn't really help much. I gave that part number to Stefan and he said it meant nothing. Mine is a '77 watch and does not have any other details on the case back. I'm trying to hunt down a parts catalogue that shows you the missing gasket at the moment as I think that might be all I need. Thanks again, Tony

Thanks again, Tony I don't want to pretend to be too much of a super-rare crystal expert, but my experience has been that the SA0W4...... crystals have that underside mounting flange. The picture watch would not take such a thing. Therefore I am in agreement with Stefan that something might be amiss - but again I caution I am not an expert.

Think I'm flogging a dead dog with this watch from what I am being told. Being a rare model the parts are pretty much not available for this style of case. One guy reckons he has the crystal which is the same as mine from what it sounds like but he said it's 20 years + since he saw a gasket come up for one. So I either try and make my own gasket using some form of silicon or I lob it on evilBay as spares. You win some, you loose some.
Thanks guys,
Tony

Thanks Rod. Well I've checked the interflop and nothing comes up at all which is never a good sign when I put in crystal number SA0W46G. I have a crystal with the watch which I believe is correct but I have no flange gasket which does not appear to be listed on those notes. Why do I feel like I'm kicking a dead horse with this watch!

I've tried internet searches with no joy, Stefan no joy and I even contacted Seiko no joy. Tone

I wonder whether it might be worth a go with the EZ2750B Looks like there may be only 2 1/10 difference so may work in a pinch, It's only £1.65 at cousins so no real loss if it does'nt work out.

Thanks guys. I noticed the hour hands broken today as I had to remove the hands and sort out a bent seconds hand. It's nearly snapped right off but is hanging on by a thread. It came to me with a bent seconds hand which I was sorting out when I noticed the damage to the hour hand and also that someone had tried to hide it by touching up the damage with black paint on the hand. I'm thinking I might return the watch as it's not up to spec so Tom don't go mad hunting that gasket down as I am unsure what to do right now. It's a shame as I like the watch Cheers, T
