When I was working in my case back page for my blog, I was determined to find out why 'STAR' is stamped on case backs from the very early days to around 1970. I had concluded some time ago that this is likely to relate to the case and back rather than the movement or dial / hands / crystal. I had wondered whether the Star Watch Case Company in the USA had made Citizen's cases, but that seemed very unlikely. Eventually, I found that STAR related the factory which made Citizen's cases. After publishing the page, I found a further reference which nailed it, since it described the 'Star Shokai' factory being acquired by Citizen in 1932. In fact there was established case making in Japan by that time, used with imported Swiss movements. Here's an example on an Ace Discus: Stephen
