Very cool read thanks for posting.
As an aside, do they have a name for the font used on that big clock? It looks like something I've seen Seiko use before...

Why do posters refer to SCWF as "TOF" ? The Other Forum?? Good question, I've seen it around on several forums, but don't know the "genesis" of it!! Of course, I'm usually on NON-Western forums or just the small Western forums. OK, and: Yes, that's a cool post!! I copied it to my personal database!! Loved some of those Museum pics too. Similar to other Museum Trip reports over the years showing all the nice stuff in there (Droool!!!!). Definitely a "keeper"!!

Why do posters refer to SCWF as "TOF" ? The Other Forum?? JMHO...This place was started by some former members of SCWF. There was a lot of animosity at the time over what went on over there. There was a lot of bashing of that forum in the early days over here and at one time there was a thread asking everyone to dial it back a little. So it got dialed back and a lot of us just started to refer to it as TOF.

Left there about 5 or 6 years back after some "kutya" & "libak" {ridicule, derision} by forum Moderators - once I answered a question "too thoroughly" for the tastes of StratmanII & he let me have it. Other things as well. I just left after that crap & settled other places, including (later on) "PWC" {Philippine Watch Club, run by Pinoys} where I was a Mod myself until all their anal-retentive over-regulation {micro-managing because the owners & their barkada (group of buddies, who were also invited to be Mods) were so "mapaghinala", suspicious, of new-comers & anyone else they didn't personally know} drove me nuts and I quit suddenly (in their opinions) and rather forcefully ... they were just blind to the total frustration I (and some other Mods/members) was feeling with their "paraan" (ways, methods).

I've been maintaining "dual citizenship" but vastly prefer the vibe here on WS.
Maybe some day WS membership will outstrip TOF head count. That would be some accomplishment.
My guess was always "The Other Forum" but frankly was hoping it had a more intetesting meaning !

I still post on SCWF but since they adopted a new format, I just find it slightly less personal. Lots of good folks there still.

I still post on both and have friends on both. I was away for about 2 weeks when I got married (1 wedding in the States and 1 in Vietnam), and when I got back on several members were gone and I had an invite to a new forum. I never even got the whole story, which I'm kind of happy about. I don't like drama and it all went down during my longest silence on the forum since joining.
