As I mentioned in Tonys recent thread I was offered the missing piece to my little set of 6139-6000's recently, and it arrived yesterday. I've had yellow and blue dialled examples for years, always keeping an eye open for a silver one. Well that never materialised so I gave up the hunt and for some unexplainable reason decided to sell my remaining blue dialled one and keep the archetypal yellow "Pogue". Typically an opportunity to buy a cracking silver one presented itself a couple of weeks later, so of course I just had to buy it. I thought it wouldn't be too difficult to source another decent blue dialled one but boy was I wrong! Anyway a chap sent his blue one to me for a health check a while back and it was an absolute belter, one of the best I've seen in fact, so when I returned it I mentioned that if he was ever to move it on I'd take it. Well, he's now moved it on, and even better he remembered my words, so it's neatly completed my little gold, silver and blue set.
Purely by chance they are all later models without the proof/resist and depth rating on the dial.
I do have the fourth variation of these, the gold dialled with black inner rotating ring that was sold in the Australasian market. You can never be 100% sure whether these are genuine ones or have had a yellow ring replaced with a black, but as I bought this from the original owner in Australia I'm as sure as I can be it's pukka. From what I've seen studying photographs when these pop up, the aussie ones also appear to have the "Chronograph" text below the Seiko logo just as the silver ones do.
I have all the NOS parts it needs to be brought back to health and a Swedefreak solid link bracelet (like the other two are on) for it when completed. I do have the three original folded link Seiko offerings but their rattlyness and end link fit doesn't go well with my OCD. I shall keep them with the watches but they'll never be fitted whilst I'm alive! As usual the only thing preventing me getting the aussie one finished is lack of time, I'm going to have to schedule it in as an unpaid job I think.
