Actually they came in a humongous box Thian sent me a rather large box with these three in it... There were also some 6309 chapter rings, case back gasket and a nice looking AM -7040 dial(looks legit except for the lack of bevel on the date window). There are also spare links for the 7a38 bracelet and a new bezel insert for a ladies diver; possibly a 2205. The Zodiac will be returning to Japan once I source a new module for it. The current on loses it's mind occasionally and the seconds hand will go galloping around the dial at about 3 to 4 times the proper rate. This is a nice watch and in near new condition! The 7a38 and the 5126 will be staying with me. The 5126 needs a service and it should be good for many more decades It reminds me of the GS watches from that era The 7a38 doesn't currently run. A preliminary inspection shows that a battery has leaked at some point as there is some of that blue/green crust showing. I will take off the antimagnetic plate and the circuit module and see how extensive the damage is. With luck, it may just need cleaning. The watch is in like new condition and even has the JISS sticker on the back. Who needs to buy watches when we have such generous forum friends?

Thian mentioned you liked this model The movement is an ETA 955114 which is obsolete but I have located one. The current replacement for this movement is the ETA 955112. Not sure what the differences are but maybe the 114 was not as robust as others. If the deal doesn't happen, I'll come asking for your source. Do you remember the P-J fiasco over this one?

Well, it looks like the electronic module on the 7a38 is toast. The leaking battery destroyed it all around the area where the negative battery contact is supposed to connect to the circuitry I guess a new electronics module is in order...wonder if they are any easier to find than hens teeth? Well, since I posted this last reply; I have been offered a working watch to swap modules and best of all, I managed to bring it back to life. I got to thinking that perhaps it was just a dodgy connection to the battery tab, so I put some electrically conductive paste on it and a bit more tension on the screw than normal...it fired right up! Got the PDF manual out and reset everything. It is now working properly with all the functions operating as designed. These are cool watches 7dfe79adc2f0

I had bought it from Dan Braun a few years ago when I visited my family and had him ship it to me in Vancouver. The 7A38s are really nice models from the 1980s.
Hope the Zodiac thing works out! I just noticed looking at it, that it is a white DOT model. When I bought the Zodiacs from the Yahoo auctions, I had asked Rene about them and he quoted me history on the DOT models.7dfe79adc2f0
