I remember these were worthless, like $15 was a reasonable price for one. This one just sold for just shy of $140.

$15? really, wow. I've been keeping an eye on 7A28s for a while, and parts scrappers seem to fetch £50 to £100. Do me a favour and let me know what watch I'm going to be gagging to own in five or ten years time is currently going for beer money?

My 7A38 was around $130 a few years ago. $15 for a 7A28??? That must have been a decade ago! hahah! 7A38gold GTRgold by blingmeister, on Flickr

And really, really, reaaaally nice examples of models like the 7a28-704x could be had for $50-$75. I used to buy these goldtone ones and use them as movement donors for the "cool" models. Being a dressy model, they seemed to be less likely to get wet and were therefore less often seen with internal water damage. Great pics, though...they probably helped the seller's case quite a bit!

Yeah, most guys avoided the 'blingy' gold plated or 2 toned models and sought the diver/ RAF models. I had one of those black dial 7A28s once. Then a few years ago, I went crazy and bought some gold toned/plated stuff since they were not selling much and I could pick them up for reasonable sum.

I was seeing these kinds of prices in the 2010 timeframe, not that long ago. Well, I guess nearly five years ago.

Seem excessive considering it is not actually covered in gold and the function and style exists in much cheaper versions.

I personally think that NOS breaks the parameters. I've never seen NOS, only very good original. NOS is a whole nuther level, and since these can age so badly, is almost like another watch model entirely in person I'd bet.

Did any of the 7a38 models come in a non-integrated head?
Never mind; I found several on the Bay.

It arrived today, after a thorough case, pusher and bracelet clean, a new set of pusher seals and a new battery I haven't the heart to break it. It's my new beater now
