I've been tempted by these. Some guys have also heat treated the crown and gotten the finish surprisingly close to that of the case. I think if I had one I'd want to treat the hands as well.
The coolest one I've seen had been totally disassembled, polished to a mirror finish, treated, polished... several times to simulate the look of vintage well cared for diving equipment.

Now you have to do the hands to match  I have been carrying around my overstruck silver dollar in my pocket for 3 years trying to wear it down or "age" it and it hasn't really been workign to well either. I guess some times you have to "speed up" the process. |

I have to admit that for a fleeting moment I thought about doing the hands but given I don't have a caseback opener nor the inclination to get one, it ain't going to happen! |
