I have never owned a used Eco-Drove that held a charge for more thank 2 days.
That being said I have never owned a Seiko Kinetic that didn't need a new capacitor.
I bought my mother a Citizen Eco-Drive back in 2004 which seems to still be going and I bought my boss / buddy a 5M42 OG Kinetic back in 2000 which has gone through 2 capacitors since for peace of mind.
I think you are better off with a 10 year battery Seiko 8F56 in the long run.
Buyer beware on both "Innovations"

Hi. I guess you missed the fine print on the dial. That watch is the Eco drive duo. It runs off both solar and kinetic, I have worn it most days since year 2000, being all titanium it's unmarked and I adjust the time twice yearly for daylight saving adjustments. Cheers Phil

Very interesting. Does the caliber date older than 2000?

Cheers Phil Thanks Phil, I have seen lots of those "duo"s for sale over the years, but never understood what the "duo" meant. Shocking what you can learn everyday! My experience with Eco-Drives and Kinetics has been the opposite of cdgod. I have about 40 Citizen Eco-drives, some over 20 years old, and they all run beautifully, with great accuracy and power reserve. Zero maintenance so far on all of those! I also have about 20 Seiko kinetics, and while sone of the older ones can only maintain a couple weeks of power reserve, the newer ones can go for months. I did have one Kinetic that was about 15 years old, and could barely hold a charge at all, so I put in the newer capacitor and now it holds a charge for months. I do have a Seiko Energy Source charger that I am constantly rotating my kinetic watches through, so I'm sure that helps. Just another perspective! - Thomas

I know nothing about the Kinetics as I've had one, but I have nothing but good to say for the Eco-Drives. I never put one in a box or a drawer, though. They live on a North-facing window sill, so they are always charged.

Yeah. They made only a few of these around a year either side of 2000. They were too expensive for the brand at the time and were discontinued. It may be the base calibre for the Campagnola but I am not sure. My brother and I have a few and do store them in a nice sunny spot when not wearing them. Cheers Phil
