Another one off the list. This is after I said NO MORE PROJECTS. Photos are crappy, but that's what I like. Auction said original bracelet....somehow I doubt that. I paid a shade too much but it looks like a solid piece, bezel looks OK. Now all I've got left is an observatory chronometer, another VANAC and some quartz stuff. Oh and the parts to finish all my projects, the hardest bit.

I've been lucky to get a few of them sub $150. I like the 56 derived caliber over the 52 as the 52 has bizarre wear issues. But it has more features. But those features work a bit weird. So the 56 is still the winner for me. The last one I want is the "snow dial". To me, it looks amazing and is really interesting. I think SEIKO really pushed the limits with this series for dial finish. They tried nearly every funky type of finish possible. I think that's awesome and worth a note in the history books. I can't think of any other manufacturer that was this adventurous dial finish wise. Hi. Vanac would be good got beaten by hundred bucks last night. Will try again. Good luck with the latest. I don't have any KS's but I do have a dozen or so Rallys. Nice acquisition!
I don't believe that bracelet is original either.

I really like that rally! It should turn out well knowing your work. I actually like the 52xx series KS movements better than the 56xx ones, but it true that they are unfortunately a lot more prone to some weird wear. Is the 4S series re-issue prone to the same type of wear? Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note II using proboards

Good question on the 4S, not quite sure. The wear issue is in the differential wheel connected to the winding system. I suspect it's from the lubricant used. The residue is kind of red, powdery and weird. It's the same part on both calibers. I've replaced the lubricant with modern MOEBIUS ones but can't tell you the result for another 20 years! I'd assume they use a modern lubricant on the 4S so it shouldn't be an issue. I really like that rally! It should turn out well knowing your work. That Vanac is great. Not only is the dial interesting but those markers are really cool too. Kind of a pinball look to them. Look forward to your rally diver resto.
