So the journey of my Blue TST has taken yet another turn. What started out as a modified SKX009 with AM parts from Harold, Noah & Jake, the watch continued its metamorphosis with additional pieces courtesy of Dave Murphy and most recently John Bentley. Now I’ve always fancied blue dials but finding the “right” one has always been and continues to be, a challenge. As much as I enjoyed watching this mod take shape over the years, I can honestly say that that the dial never really rocked my boat so to speak. After having John fit one his finely crafted shrouds to it, I figured that it was complete. Nonetheless I still had a case of the blues and after seeing many other fine examples of the “real” and “repro” tunas, I figured by re-fitting OEM pieces I’d have a watch that was more about familiarity than novelty. Having seen Carlo's work his magic with OEM swaps and “MrWozza” ‘s TST renderings over at SCWF, I set out sourcing the necessary parts. Carlo supplied the 171 dial & chapter ring (thank you Carlos!) and then I contacted Duarte at NorthEast Watch Works for the Samurai Ti hands and since Duarte is an AD for Dagaz Watches, figured a new insert and flat sapphire crystal would also be in order. Duarte then put ‘er all together for me. Thank you Duarte! Branding is a curious thing and I’m as susceptible as the next guy but hey, it is a Seiko after all, right? Then: Now:

Awesome result. I love the dial and the hands. I'd personally go for a different insert but then again it's not my watch so who cares what I think. Congrats on a real looker and enjoy it by wearing it A LOT!

It was your first picture which inspired me to copy you with my blue Soxa. I loved looking at pictures of yours and mine but on the wrist it just didn't work for me and I guess you as well since you changed yours and I sold mine long ago. I do have to say the last pic of the blue TST looks good in the pic.

I like the hands on that one Josh but your right...there was just something that didn't quite click with me on some of those 1st gen Soxa dials. They were a great option back in the day but Jake's subsequent offerings are that much better, particularly in the lume dept. Plain while markers vs chromed indices look nicer too. The beauty of it all is you can go back and give 'er another go!
