I found a watch lot with a treasure in it. This happens, but rarely with a treasure so old. I'm not 100% up on these, and really wasn't looking for one, but I saw it in the watch lot auction, and decided to go for it. As far as I know, there were three variations of these - one with a star on the dial, one with an anchor, and this style with the cherry blossom. There is debate about whether these were issued, or if they were private-purchase items families would gift to their sons going away to war. There is speculation that the cherry blossom ones were specifically meant for kamikaze troops, but again this is speculation only. I've read the yuku.seikoholics article about these, which seems to be the go-to authoritative write-up about them, but there are still questions. Interesting piece. Tiny. These were double-cased. Mine only has the inner case - the outer snap-together case is missing. This one is in truly fantastic shape though, barely worn at all. The crystal is perfect, which is something considering this watch is well over seventy years old. The movement is complete, and it will run a few ticks, but it desperately needs cleaning. I'm not going to touch it at this time, I'll just put it in the case and think about it.

very cool, what is the vintage? As stated above, it's a WW2 watch. 1940s.

Wow. just wow.
That is so cool. I gotta find me one of these to add to the collection, even though it probably wouldn't be worn.

Man I like that one never saw so small off them. It was a great fine that one. Looking at it it is gorgeous too, but what holds it for use. Does it come with a wrist strap to put it into ? Is it a Neck lace type ? So Tiny too. That is a very Beautiful find of a watch.

That looks great, and you found yourself a real Jewel there. Wish things like that come up here but nothing shows up. I wanted to find a little pocket watch like that some day. I always miss them even from the Bay. I have to change the type of watch I like from these Aqualands to some thing more suitable. I like those 6106-8000/1 and like to find a case even to piece one together some day. to get one slowly. Have to learn more about other watchs now. Aloha Sir and thank fore the reply back appreciate it a lot. LongBike

That is an awesome dial and and hand combination.
If only it was larger however I don't know if anyone would be able to scale it larger in a homage and still make it look as good as the original does.

I have something similar. Doesn't run...IIRC the balance staff is broken. Neat watch. I always assumed '30s-'40s.
