I am trying to remove the bezel on my 6309-7040/7049 to absolutely no avail. The bezel currently on it right now is that of a 6105-8110 which I initially had to take to my jeweler to have him press fit it on because it was so hard to get on. Peter has suggested putting a very thin sharp knife under the bezel and start prying slowly to get it off but there is absolutely no room between the bezel and the case to do so. I have tried a sharp knife, my Burgeon removal tool and even an exacto knife blade but cannot get even that under any part to start the removal process! I dont want to bugger up the case in my attempts so any other ideas other then to take the watch in and have my watch maker remove it? TIA

Perhaps you can take it back to the guy, who mashed it on in the first place.

There simply has to be a small recess intended to allow the tool to get under it. I've had many that had dirt in the crevice such that it took an ultrasonic cleaning with a soft toothbrush afterwards to "find the recess".
Good luck !

I had the same problem with my 7002 when I first got it, the bezel was frozen.
I soaked the watch overnight in penetrating oil, then used a watch knife to pry it off the next day.
It turned out that it really was just grime over the years that had collected and solidified.

Hi. Suggest you sharpen the cold chisel first. Cheers Phil

There will be a small flat spot somewhere on the circumference of the bezel that is used to pop it off. Unless it has been glued on...

Is the 6105 bezel, typically a super tight fit on the 6309 case? I've heard of others with this combination, so I'm assuming it's feasible.

Agreed the bezel tool is a better option but I have used the case knife ever since I had a dive watch, just need to mask the are where the knife will be using for leverage.

You obviously haven't tried to remove a super tight one then, with some bezels you won't have a hope using just a knife. Perhaps I should have written a caseback knife won't cut it if it's really tight, just to avoid any doubt as to what I meant.

The 6105, 6309 and 7002 bezels should all be interchangeable but there are tolerance differences that sometimes make the fit extremely tight and at other times loose enough to pluck off with your finger nail. I've experienced both with in the 6309 family alone!

I have a very sneaky suspicion that the 6105 bezel I am trying to remove must have been tweeked a bit originally and thats why its such a tight fit to begin with. (or perhaps slightly out of round) When I got the 6105 bezel and tried putting it onto the 6309 it would not snap on no matter what I did so for shits and grins I took the bezel that originally came on my 6105 and tried installing it onto the 6309 and it fit like a charm with no problems at all. I ended up taking it in to my watch guy and he had to "press" fit it on. Seems as if now that I'll again have to take the watch in to have him remove it with whatever proper tool he uses as absolutely no sweet or flat spot I can get anything under to even begin to lift/pry it off. Even the thinnest of my exacto blades wont fit under the bezel.

Yeah, just take it in to him, see if he can get it off. Just give him a heads-up, that you don't want any damage to the case. I know this should be something that you need not mention, but you'd be surprised.
