I'm guessing a Christmas present - maybe to himself ?? - that's a steep price to pay for the goodies to go along with the very good condition 6138

I think some folks just get aroused, when they see all the goodies. I personally, have no desire to pay extra for them.

Having all the "goodies" makes for a nice package but I dont think I'd pay all that extra for them either. Everything has a different set of values as my Zippos and Zippos in general are worth much more with the original boxes. The same can be said with Vintage toys.... with original box in good shape they always bring more money! Same goes for those little Matell cars etc.

Don't get me wrong, I saved the goodies from the few new watches that I have. But, I have no desire to pay extra when I'm buying a used piece. Do I prefer they are included, yes, but I'm not paying extra for them.

I like having original stuff, kind of like having service documentation with a car, and the original owner's manual and toolkit and stuff. But it's not really worth a large percentage of the value of the watch in my eyes.

I don't know I think there is some thing nice about a watch with it's original papers, boxes and plastic Seiko branded bags but then I am biased Mind you I think that one fetched enough as it's obvious someone with a lack of disrespect for a neat job has had the case back off in the past.

That's a DAMNED good deal for that watch. I have been collecting for over a decade, and have only seen a handful of 6138-8010s for sale. Never mind in that condition, with boxes, papers, and a fresh factory service. Whomever got that one really SCORED!

I agree, those are pretty uncommon, especially in that condition and if you are a collector its OK price wise considering the money Bullheads make sans box etc.

Being honest I thought that was a different model when I made my previous statement but after you two went potty over it I knew I'd missed some thing. I like that big time and wish I'd brought it!

I'd hoped that I would have been the lucky winner - I came in second. That model is quite rare and in that condition with a complete bracelet and just serviced I was willing to spend almost enough to win. I already have one of these but not nearly in this condition and short several bracelet links.
The number of times I've seen this model available over the last 15-20 years I can count on one hand.
I keep hoping to get a second chance offer from the seller but not yet. So it goes....

To me this was one of the best 6138's to come up in a while. There was the blue kakume that sold for $1600 a few weeks ago but the seller said the buyer fat fingered his bid which was around the 1k mark. I have not seen one of these 8010's for sale on the bay. The seller originally listed it at around $2400. I gave him an offer relatively close to the selling price and received a reply saying the offer was comical. Lost interest after that. Was surprised at the ending price, thought it would go north of 1k. Nice pickup whomever snagged it.

I love learning new things, I had no idea. Can someone tell us a bit more about this model?

it's obvious someone with a lack of disrespect for a neat job has had the case back off in the past. Pedant alert - double negative! Just fussy when for my own collection Duncan. When I see a case with large gouges on a watch that is meant to have lead a sheltered life it makes me wonder who went in with the hammer and chisel. Although chances are this is why it was taken to Seiko to fix. That all said you would have thought Seiko could manage to fit the sub seconds hand in the right position. Anyhoodles this coming from a man who I know is as fussy as me if not more so

I have had offers in excess of $2500 for my blue 0030 and I mean well in excess of $2500. Makes the 8010 look like more of a steal for 7 and change The money I've been offered is irrelevant. Find another as clean. My watch and the 8010 are chalk and cheese in my opinion.
