I was passing a local jewellery store yesterday and noticed a 50% off closing down sale. Looking around most of the cabinets were half empty and I guessed all the good stuff was gone - until I spied a Hirsch cabinet up the back of the store behind the counter. Hirsch straps are pretty expensive in Australia so 50% off is not to be sneezed at. I eagerly invited myself behind the counter to rifle through their stocks and grabbed a couple of spare 22mm Liberties for my dive watches. I've always worn my 6309 7040 on a black Liberty but I got a brown one too for extra flexibility. You don't seem to see many dive watches on brown straps but I think this strap works really well with the aged lume and general wabi of my 6306 7001. What do you think? Is the brown strap a winner. For any Australian or Southern Tasmanian (highly unlikely) members, PM me if you're interested in knowing the name and location of the store). Attachments:

Well now, for the most part I prefer a dive strap or bracelet on a diver. Although I will admit that is an attractive combo.

Many folks like it, me...not so much. I do like that strap though, very handsome.

Good looking combo.
I like a vintage diver on a nice leather strap - emeritus years for a former tool watch.
Not so much new divers, and also maybe not as much as on original straps.

Hirsch makes good straps and 50% off is a great deal. As far as divers and straps goes....I try to shake things up a bit....I'm not really locked into one style, etc. I used to wear a Hirsch Liberty on my Caesar:

Thanks guys. I'm not fan of rubber straps and since I don't dive or swim with my vintage watches a good leather strap is perfect. The Libertys are a strap with enough bulk to match it with a 6309.

I love Hirsch straps, but they are almost ALWAYS too long for me. Unless you have wrists around 7"-7.5"+, they won't have much for you. Sometimes they offer a "short" version of a particular strap, but most times I am out of luck. Apparently, they are only made for people with caveman arms?

Ha ha. I wouldn't have considered my 7.5inch wrists to be caveman arms. Their L size fits me perfectly. They do also offer an M and XL but the Might be hard to find.

That looks good, I think it's a winner ...if you're happy with it then it shouldn't matter what other people think! Dive watches on leather isn't necessarily a sin. Besides, most people with dive watches don't really know how to dive (myself included) so it really shouldn't matter.
