So my Wife out shopping for some old distressed/used wood for some kind of project she has going, been doing my best to steer clear of it. She finds some little flea market place and finds her wood. Across from this seller is a guy with some clocks and watches. so she spots this one. her next text said "these 2 look interesting"

So...which ones did you have her bring home? You have to love a wife who keeps on the lookout for watches for her husband. :winner:

The market was closing up when she saw the watches. I'm going to stop by there tomorrow after work. I need to put a couple of good close up pictures of these 6139's on my phone so I can give it a good looking over.

I see resist text on the dial, so it's just a question of if its "proof" or "resist", and if it's "resist", if it's a 6139-6005, and if it's a -6005 "resist", what month it was made.

The 6139 looks great, hopefully it's priced right.

If they want $150 for a watch that trends for $75 if you are lucky on Ebay I can only guess they want 2X market value on the Monster and 6139.

Yes, there is a stall at my local market that has quite a few Seiko chronos. Unfortunately they want a bomb for them and most are fairly rough and definitely unserviced. I think the market (eBay) may be catching up lately though.

I saw one once here at Cash Converters, they wanted 600 for it. 6002. It was unserviced and a bit beat. For kicks I offered them 150 cash. "Oh sorry, we only offer a maximum of 10% discount for cash". Yeah right. What's the bet they bought it for about $30? Yes, there is a stall at my local market that has quite a few Seiko chronos. There's a local jeweller who has a 6139 7100 on mesh and he wants $750 for it. I once talked it over with him and the going rates for this model (say $250 in decent condition) and we decided that even serviced I thought he'd have to halve his price. He once quoted me $350 to service a 6138 though when there are three nearby guys that will do them for $150-180 odd though so I thinks he's a little opportunistic.

A few years ago, I found a very nice 6117 World Timer in a local pawn shop. They wanted $350 for it, and said it had been serviced. I offered $150 for it, which was a pretty fair price at the time, and was nearly laughed out of the place. They were out of business a year or so later... I know what happens to pawn shops that stubbornly overprice things, but I still wonder what happened to the 6117.

At those prices its making mine look more and more valuable! Mine is the 6002 model ........serial # 666-xxx Its in almost mint condition with the exception of 2 maybe 3 TEENY little marks on the case. Runs perfectly and everything sets exactly back the way it should! Perhaps I should try selling it for $700.00? Also.......AFAIK it has Original S/S bracelet and definitely the OEM end links!
