It is definitely a "Rare" variant. I'd love to acquire one but it's above my insanity for a watch. I'll have to settle for the Plain Jane variety.

Mine is the "standard" variant, but I only paid about $280 for it a few years ago. So I am still trying to understand; what is the difference? It looks like the inner bezel enumeration is the same as the normal one, and I imagine the chrono second hand moves in the same direction, so it just the word "FORWARD" on the dial? Is that it? - Thomas

It's also from a well respected seller in Japan (my favourite and Thomas's too). If I were inclined to spend that much on a watch (ah, if only..... ) that would make all the difference to me.

I don't personally believe the word "FORWARD" on the dial has much to do with it. The 6139-6032 is simply an uncommon (and very attractive) JDM model that doesn't come up for sale very often, much less in near-mint condition. Plus, this is a well-presented auction with great pics. And, as we know, prices for unmolested museum-quality 6138/9s are on the march. There have been quite a few writeups and articles online and elsewhere about how good these watches really are, and serious collectors are starting to add them to their collections. Even at $800, it's a helluva lot cheaper than a vintage Daytona or Speedmaster!

It's gorgeous, and very desirable. I'd say it should hit at least $800. What did I tell y'all...$795.55!

I love owning my 6139, but I hate to wear it, or any vintage watch. I am too worried that I'll break it.

Wear it Earthphase. I almost exclusively wear vintage watches. They're generally tough enough to handle most things - except water :-) Of course, I take my best examples off when I'm working in the yard, but I generally wear some nice examples of desirable Seikos around the house too. While they're going up in value, nothing approaches what this one fetched though. I love owning my 6139, but I hate to wear it, or any vintage watch. I am too worried that I'll break it.
