I list a watch at $100 with a BIN at $150…..a person bids on the watch for $100, others bid so the first bidder then bids the watch up to $190. I'm happy but why didn't he just buy the watch for the BIN.. Rod

Clearly he wanted a cheap buy but had a ceiling way above the BIN price and rolled the dice. Kind of gives you a charge to try that approach.
I've struggled with just doing the BIN when it's a big spread over the starting price and I think it will not attract a lot of attention.
I've also hosted auctions where the first bidder was out early but the remaining guys far exceeded the original BIN price - gotta love it.

I have had that happen once or twice. Many many years ago I got a Timex LED watch in a lot of watches and on average it cost me $1. I put it up for BIN $50 or 1¢ opening bid. Within the first 5 minutes some idiot bid on it. The next day some guy offered me $100 fee free. Guess what I did Took the money and ran.

Last year a friend of mine put a item on ebay with a Buy-It-Now price of £100 or Make Me An Offer. He got a offer of £110 which he promptly accepted.

Well that is exactly what i would have done too...

I thought as soon as someone bid on your item, the BIN option is disabled?

I thought as soon as someone bid on your item, the BIN option is disabled? It is. In this case the bidder didn't hit the BIN but instead entered a bid. Some folks don't read so well ; he/she could have had the item for less than they bid and there would not have been any back door deals

Well that is true unless they have a reserve...then the bid will show and the buy it now will show too...

Well that is true unless they have a reserve...then the bid will show and the buy it now will show too... That only makes sense if a bid is below the BIN or reserve. Leaving the BIN in place after a higher bid has been place makes no sense.

Well it is always best if you see a good deal and can afford it..just buy it and be done with it...i am more apt to buy a buy it now than a auction...auctions get people to pay more than they might normally...
