That watch is kinda nice.
I'd request a partial refund to cover the cost of the stem and fix it up. I'm making an assumption the little gear to turn the indicator ring is still there. The value of the watch is well in excess of the cost of the stem, so you still win.
It's quite possible the stem had a hairline crack to start with and a tap just finished it off. They are usually quite robust.

Dang, that sucks!
If it were me, I'd send it back...but only because I'm not able to do any repair work myself.

New crystal, a bit of case work, it'll clean up nice, you should be able to salvage parts of the stem (gear, spring) if it was a good deal ,I would keep it, otherwise send it back and hunt for a better example.

Shipping a watch in an envelope is cheaper, for sure. However, is it worth the risk?

Shawn you are a life saver...pm sent...
Hey i have sent many watches in a nice padded envelope..but i always over package it and make sure something can drive over it with all the bubble wrap i put on it...but usually i try and use a flat rate box...
the reason i bought it i was told it had been serviced once in it's life back in 2001 and had the paperwork to prove it and was from original family who bought it...they lost the links they removed from it...but i know they are available so that did not bother me...he said it ran perfectly too...so i felt that this had a good chance to be something nice and with my limited vision...i was happy...let's just hope the seller did not sell me a line just to get me to buy it
thank all of you....

I'm always amazed the lengths people go to save a few bucks on postage.

Not good at all, i would either send it back for a full refund, but if you want to keep it, ask for a partial refund.

Me too...for what i paid...a flat rate box and some bubble wrap would have not broke the band....as a seller...what i hate is to have unhappy customers...i would rather lose money than make someone unhappy due to my ignorance or stupidity...doing the right thing is worth more than any dollar figure....

You sending it back then John? I could have sorted it for you and it looks a nice example to me even with the broken stem. Free of charge of course!
