For your pleasure here are two purchases I recently made - first the two together (hence the title of this thread):
The G757 was a BIN listed as for parts/repair. The seller stated he installed a dead battery and just decided to sell it. Worth a gamble for me! The gold dialed 6139 was listed as a BIN (under $200 total, that's my new threshold for 6139's!) with these two pictures (among others) doing the pimping:
and how it showed up in the hand:
Daddy Like!!!!!!
I'm here to tell you, the 6139-600x is just ON FIRE lately. I imagine the $300 threshold won't be too far down the road. You heard it here first (tonight anyway): stock up on those 6139-600x watches!!!

Dan What is this $300 threshold, and can I get a refund if my seller crossed it?

The $300 threshold for one as nice as that passed about 12 months ago or more. So if you're getting ones at that price now with a good dial you got a bargain

I'd bid $100 on every nice on that came down the pike. I lost a lot of them, but because they are so common I also GOT a lot of them. Nowadays, $200 is a pretty fair threshold. As you say, $300 is here, and I suspect $400 isn't too far away.

Yellow 6139-600x 'T' dials like yours often fetch £450+ here in the UK. That's approx $700.

Nice snag Dan . . . . that 6139 is in great condition! Beautiful watch and for a great price! LUCKY BASTARD (again) ! I guess it's the seller's bad luck for posting crap pictures! The digital is also cool . . . . love to see that one up and running!

It seems to me as if the 6139-600x is at a level purchasing point as the 6309-704x. Across the board too, poor condition to immaculate. Dan

I'd guess 1972-1973 on that 6139? It doesn't appear to have 1971's Resist dial or 1974's flared bracelet. That one is a peach. You should turn right around and sell it to one of those crazy Brits for $700!

well i really like the other one too...does it run?... No John, not yet. I got the old battery out and I need to see if I have any new ones either here at my desk at work or if I need to order some. Like the "Other Arnie" this watch gets called the "James Bond" watch because it is very similar to the one Roger Moore wore in "Octopussy". I'm hoping to bring it back to life and see if someone wants to live like Bond. We'll see! D.

I brought it in to work today (the World Traveler is on my wrist today) and I'm going to let Jeff Stein wear it for a week. I know he's written before about the "race to the first automatic chronograph" and I know for a fact he does not have a 6139. Maybe he'll write another blurb and pique interest, thereby goosing prices a bit too! D.

My Dad's was given to him as a birthday gift in November '72 and was made in August '72.

I was looking through my records for some info a few days ago and was amazed at how many 6139's I picked up for $50 to $75 Smackers. Those days are long gone!

Not so long ago I picked up 3 in various states of disrepair, hoping to maybe get two runners, for $250...a back door local ebay deal, where we agreed to a BIN. 6139-6015 cleaned up nice, blue resist 6139-6005 runs like a champ and looks great after a bit of case work, and the black faced ( ok, blue faced, but next to the blue I'd swear it was black) is now on the bench, with the case freshly re-finished awaiting crystal and gaskets. for a long time I thought I might have overpaid, but seeing the prices now, I think it was a hell of a deal. ( they came with a full original early bracelet, a partial flared later bracelet and an original 6015 bracelet without end links.)

Btw. The gold 6002 was not part of the deal. The 6005 obviously the before pics.
