I just got this nice JDM '76 6306-8010 Actus Silverwave directly from Japan. This seller always says their watches don't run, but out of the ten watches I have bought from them...eight of them worked perfectly right out of the box. But this one was as dead as fried chicken when it arrived. All the tapping and shaking in the world wouldn't make the seconds hand budge. Normally, when a screw or something is stuck in the balance, the seconds hand will at least twitch a little when you aggressively shake/tap it. This one did nothing. I took the caseback off, gently tapped on the balance wheel with a toothpick, and it felt like it was stuck with glue. Turns out my guess wasn't far off once the balance came out... This is a big wad of RUST on the lower pivot. I would have cleaned it off, but I assumed this pivot was probably trashed anyway. Swapped in a nice balance from a junk 6319. She was a little groggy at first, but now she is banging away nicely and keeping good time. I didn't see much else in terms of corrosion on this movement, but I am sure it is there. Where there is one bit of rust, there are usually more.

Live those Silverwaves.
8 of 10 ran. Wow. If it's who I think it is, I just don't want to buy from him.

Live those Silverwaves. 8 of 10 ran. Wow. If it's who I think it is, I just don't want to buy from him. All of their watches are pictured against the same black leather...I think it is a chair? I personally like this seller. They take reasonable offers (not lowballs, though), ship very fast, have lots of cool JDM stuff, and tend to under-rate their watches in terms of condition and function. Plus, the watch will be almost comically well-packed when it arrives. Seriously, when the 6306 arrived today my girlfriend and I had a chuckle about it. If a 16th century samurai were to pack a watch, it would be packed like this. They don't clumsily cocoon it in 20sf of bubble wrap with an entire roll of strapping tape, but rather just package it very neatly, and with an incredible amount of thought and care. Matter of fact, I just bought this one from them about half an hour ago. It is a JDM 1973 3863-7010 Quartz QR.
