Just thought you'd like to see what Tony buys himself for his birthday. Picked this up on evilBay the other day. I paid a strong price for it but I love these early dress watches with all the text on the dial. 1964 82800 Seahorse with 7625 movement (820 cal is the same movement as the 7625 but renumbered). It might even be a replacement auto wind mech as that carrys the cal number but I know the movement is original to the watch as it came via the original owners daughter I have a NOS beads of rice bracelet that I was given recently by a good friend but it's ends are not wide enough unfortunately I'll update this when I've replaced the crystal and given it the once over in the workshop. Peace.

Beautiful! I see new and interesting models every time I log on. Reinforces how much more I need to know. I know that style is high on my dress watch list...thanks Tony.

Very, very nice. :winner:
I was only looking at a Seahorse last night on the bay. It was an EGP version and whilst the caseback was gorgeous and the movement clean, I wasn't sold on the dial and hands so passed.
Looking forwards to seeing yours once you've spruced it up.

I really love that dial font, it really makes the watch!

Three things I think are really missing from modern mid-range watches are good chapter rings, nice fonts, and applied indices. Seikos Sportsmatics check all the boxes.

A big thanks to Stefan who had all the parts I needed to restore my sea horse to amazing condition. Now finished with a new crystal from Stefan, the strap and a gasket for the crown so all water tight again with the NOS case back gasket I already got via Stefan a couple of weeks ago.

It looks just perfect Tony. I have been wearing a similar Seiko Champion, with similar styling and dial fonts, and I am impressed how the date window has just a simple black outline, yet how well that works to "pick out" the date display. Mine also a nice seahorse on the back, although it is a bit polished out. One of my more accurate watches too! - Thomas

I was going to comment then but am not sure if I did or didn't but a real nice example too. I have one almost identical that needs a little love I just gifted to a good friend on the forum so he can have a go at restoring it himself. These early 60's dress watches are hard to beat with their choice of fonts. I've not seen a vintage Omega I prefer to some of these Sportsmatics or Silverwaves and these are a fraction of the cost of the Swiss brands.
