Hi guys.
How do I determine if the h-link bracelet is original and not a later replacement? What do I look for?
Thanks.

The "tab" on the clasp of the originals is rounded, the AM ones are typically flat. Not sure if that's 100%, but that's how mine are.

On original "H" link bracelets the clasp usually says "Japan Z" on it. Some will also have an STL logo because Stelux made bracelets for Seiko. Stelux also made replacement bracelets which have a flat ended clasp. These replacement bracelets are just as good as the originals. I believe at some point manufacturing switched to Hong Kong on the later bracelets.
On original President style bracelets I believe they all have the flat ended clasp.
There are many copies out there. An easy one to spot looks pretty close but on the clasp it has a ridge down both sides which is the give away that it's aftermarket.
At some point I'll have to get some photos which I'll be adding to my updated 6139 Variations Review.

What do you mean when you say clasps are rounded or flat?

What do you mean when you say clasps are rounded or flat? It might be easier to understand "rounded tab" on end of clasp or "no tab" on end of clasp Stelux Flat ended clasp: Aftermarket bracelet with ridges on side of clasp (Sekosis Photo)

What do you mean when you say clasps are rounded or flat? Stelux Flat ended clasp: The bracelet above in the photo Tom. Those were not fitted to the 6139-600x range were they? I've got a few NOS I brought early on thinking they were the same as on the 6139-600x early bracelets but they are a lot thicker then normal. Also those end pieces fit the 6105-811x range of watches. I've seen this style of bracelet on a 70s bom chica wa wa Seiko chrono but being a total pillock I forgot to write down what the code was. I have seen them being sold as Pogue bracelets but I don't think they are? Close but no cigar Earthy did you ask me about this as I seem to remember the question but cannot find where it was asked or if I even answered it. Sorry. Had a lot on my plate this week and not firing on all cylinders sorry.

I did Tony via PM. I knew you would get around to it eventually. This thread has sorted me out.

I just used the photo to illustrate the style of clasp I was talking about.

I've got one of those Stelux h-links. Came to me on a 6139 6012, but I can't be sure it was original. End links fit the curve of the case nicely but they're 'sunken' compared to the lugs. Couldn't love the watch on that bracelet though and eventually swapped it for a leather strap. Attachments:

I bought this one from Jonathan and at the time he stated that it was for the early 6139-600x, I have no reason to doubt his word, but, I have never checked to see.
