Like the title says, I just picked up a 630 as my first project watch. Basically I'm gonna learn maintenance on it, and try to do some simple mods, like change the hands or dial. Got it for 30 bucks.  |

Congrats. Here's my 6309 sporting Mercedes hands to look a lot like a Rolex Explorer I. Some folks call these mods "Seikolex". Soon this could become an addiction !   |

Looks like a great first "patient". Beware that many 6309 plastic dial rings can be very brittle due to age.

Looks like a great first "patient". Beware that many 6309 plastic dial rings can be very brittle due to age. Thank you for the heads up man! I was examining that last night, and it looks like it's in okay condition |

The mercedes hands are a good touch  Any advice on removing the crown? I've read that alot of watches have a little lever your press and you can pull out the crown, but I can't seem to find it on this guy. |

I've read that alot of watches have a little lever your press and you can pull out the crown, but I can't seem to find it on this guy. On the 6309 there is a tiny button with a dimple in the middle. I think you just lightly press it and pull the crown out. |
