Just found out William Jean has come out with repro's for the 19mm xgl731 strap and the "chocolate bar" strap. Pricey at $60 but I had to pull the trigger on a 731. I've been wanting that for my 6105 for years...

Are the still super hard on the wrist? I had to treat mine a few times in hot water and it's still not comfy.

Which strap did you find hard, his original 19mm waffle repro? I don't find them overly stiff but not the most comfortable thing in the world. No idea about these new ones, just ordered it tonight. Report over on SCWF is that they are softer and more comfortable than the waffle.

One guy I know has a couple of NOS original 19mm and he said although Williams are nearly spot on to look at they need the hot water treatment to supple them up where as a NOS Seiko will feel soft and comfy in comparison. My 6105-8110 has one of Williams bands/straps on it and I'm more than happy with it although I do grow tierd of wearing it over the course of a day or so just because it clamps rather than hugs my wrist.

I posted this on TOF, forgot to do it here. It seems appropriate to add it to this thread. The choice of period correct straps for Seiko 1960's divers has been a bit limited up till now. You could spend forever looking for an original 19mm waffle, tyre tread or chocolate block strap like the ones pictured. (The above picture is courtesy of Clayton (150m), the man with all the original 1960's and 70's Seiko divers watches, parts, straps, and accessories you could ever hope to see!) Or if you own a 62mas you could even select a 19mm Swiss tropic option. If you were looking for something made from modern materials in the correct style then Canadian Will Jean has manufactured a fantastic reproduction waffle strap for the past few years and most 6215's, 6159's and 6105's have ended up on one of those. Technically however, this is not the correct choice for the 300m Professional range of divers, (reference 6215-7000/1 and 6159-7000/1) as general opinion is that these came only on the tyre tread or chocolate block straps, not the waffle. Fast forward to now and Will Jean has manufactured excellent reproductions of both the tyre tread and chocolate block strap in addition to the waffle, so I recently placed an order for a chocolate block version to go on my 6159-7001. It arrived today so I fitted it, took a quick picture and I think it looks so much better than it ever did on the waffle. Apologies for there only being the one picture but I was in a bit of a hurry this morning before I had to go out!

I know what you mean. His 19mm waffle (which I have treated with hot water) never sits quite right on my wrist, either too loose or too tight (clamped). Ideally I need a hole between two holes but I am loath to modify it. This is an age old problem for me with the 6105-8110 case and pretty much every strap I've ever used on it. Ideally I think a really pliant but somewhat thin strap would be the best for me. Hopefully this 731 will fit the bill.
