Hi. Why not pay his asking price and polish out the minor scratches on the original crystal. Cheers Phil

I'm with phil. I reckon you could get rid of those with some FLITZ polish, they are pretty light. It is probably worth about what the guy is asking.
Alternatively, try thecrystalentity (part of the Spencer Klein empire) for the crystal. They would be a vaguely standard 31 or 32mm SEIKO diver crystal.

That's a great price. I'd buy it and live with the scratches. I don't think you'll have much success polishing out the scratches with anything other than cerium oxide or diamond paste. Probably better to buy a genuine Hardlex replacement or an aftermarket sapphire if you're bothered by the scratches. Myles I'm sorry, in my zeal to encourage you, I forgot to answer your question. I bought a genuine Hardlex replacement from Jules Borel several years ago. Part number is 325W16GA00. I haven't swapped it in yet as I hardly notice the light scratches in the original crystal. Might be wise to buy a new crystal gasket and "upper glass gasket" (the teflon washer that sits between the crystal and crystal fixing ring). http://instagram.com/p/1XYubMNc79

Beauty . . . good luck if you decide to pull the trigger.

His price, believe it or not, is pretty fair. If you could get it for an even $500 it would be a pretty good deal.
I think I have an extra crystal if you wind up getting the watch. My SBBN015 came with an aftermarket sapphire, and I swapped it in. The original, IIRC, is unblemished.
