So I got this MINTY (I'm joking) piece from Ramon. So I'm not upset in the slightest, I knew what I was buying, but check out how cobbled and hacked it is. It is supposed to be a 7002 - So I've popped the bezel off - Wtf is that? a PLASTIC bezel ring insert? I don't recall this being on 7002's Plastic click? Wtf? I have no idea where this came from - The anatomy continues.... Some fine watchsmithing here, the pendant has been replaced by Conan the Watch Barbarian! Note the dent above in gasket groove, it doesn't look too bad here but in person it's the size of Mt. St. Helens - So on the other side - So whoever did it was much more gentle on the way in (oh that sound terrible), and they haven't even pressed in the pendant they took so much time removing. What do you reckon the water resistance here is? I'd put a vote on barely resisting a splash from the beer you'd need to drink to look at this thing. So moving on to the movement, a lovely but dirty 7002? NOPE, a hacked in 7009....awesome! Do we need to remove the day ring? Nope, Just sling her in there! Awesome! I only purchased this to do some gasket research on and to keep as a reference, but, gawd, it is that bad I had to post it. All said and done, it has a new stem (score!) and some other bits I can use, but yeah, what a piece of crap. This is the stuff you can get caught on buying from known cobblers on ebay. In this case it was Ramon, so I knew what I was getting. On another note, does anyone know what that plastic tracked bezel actually belongs to? I've never seen it before and as far as I'm aware it wasn't a legit 7002 variation.

Do you think it originally came from New Zealand?

Do you think it originally came from New Zealand? Not fair.. I see you have been reading a post on another forum.. please don't lump the rest of NZ in there. .

Very typical of that part of the world. They just use what they have!

With all due respect to his "Treasure Chest" and all that, for all the great reported parts finds and running movements advertised as for parts, etc., I simply skip every one of his auctions and always will.

Interesting read what others have done to the watches before Ramon gets them.
Been meaning to get some from him to practice on and to see what i can salvage for parts bucket. As like you said, you know what you're getting from him.

The dial feet must have been removed and glue used to hold it since the 7002 and 7009 have different crown positions.

with and must go along with our Brother Tony(Anzac).
We can not get on the seller because we are .... " Starving For Parts ", and they have them in a big variety. We want watch's and we get them but we also get a lot of useful parts along with them. I have heard a lot about ..... The Asia area for all these things, but lets not get another place involved....OK. Let's watch what we say, after all we have a lot of good people there also. But this is the first I have heard about New Zealand and also not get Australia involved too. Strange I have never heard anything about what come out of Hawaii also.

I hope my 7s36-00m0 coming from Ramon is at least half decent. I have had many watches with 7s36 from his treasure chest. Nearly all of them will respond to a good cleaning and fresh oil. Occasionally where there has been water intrusions, a few parts might need replacing. If that's the case, just grab one of his movement lots that has 7s26 or 7s36 pieces in it.

well as a very frequent buyer of your friend Ramon....and of the 25 or so watches i have bought...i have never got one that was not exactly what i thought i was getting...and most are way better than described....i am glad Adrian you are just using it for gasket work....too bad they were so unkind with it but it does have some good pieces to reuse...We need more people like Ramon who take what most people think as junk or not worth fixing and made a business out if it and uses it to supplement his income....i will always buy from a great man who always does whatever he can to help and find what i need too...God Bless John

Round these parts we politically correctly refer to that watch as "ethnically enhanced" I have never had a problem with anything I have ever bought from Ramon but maybe at this point thanks to the big business puppy mills in the there are slim pickings for the independents and his previously reliable sources have now succumbed to "the hustle" Every hand in the chain takes / makes a cut depending on the product or skim the best off of the top and pass off the rest.

I might expand this topic further here and on my blog, as one of the questions I get asked the most is "I'm looking to buy a xxxxx..."
