The hands on the watch below. Not only do they look too new, but aren't these one for.....say a 6138-0020 or a 6138-0040? Or did the Japan models possibly use these wider hands?

Those hands are not original to a 6138-0030. They appear to be aftermarket as are the sub register hands and possibly the dial.

If I'm not mistaken, this is from Yahoo Japan. I've seen watches from this seller many times, and they often seem to be polished or have many aftermarket parts. The hands on the watch below. Not only do they look too new, but aren't these one for.....say a 6138-0020 or a 6138-0040? Or did the Japan models possibly use these wider hands?

The chart is to show between real and aftermarket/repainted dials, doomguy10011 enlightened us earlier My watch is also on there for referrence but I should take some nice close up photos for Wrist Sushi. From what I 'think' I understand about this model is the originals had white around the day/date window. The aftermarkets were silver or black. Now the beware. I watched a aftermarket pile of crap make £484 last night on ebay. The usual seller beejoo4. That's $722US. This was a watch made from spare parts and with aftermarket dial, hands, bracelet and outer bezel. Likely a non Seiko crystal and gaskets been used too. I watched the same guy sell a brown bullhead 6138 for .... £720GB or $1075 which once again was made from aftermarket parts. The more these watches become worth, the harder it will become to spot fakes and lash up's. You likely know I brought a load of gear off Stefan a couple of weeks back. One of the reasons I am super happy about the deal was I stopped beejoo from getting his hands on all the scrap chronograph cases. Without those he cannot make fakes. As it turned out it was a lovely lot of hard to find parts and a few watches to kick back into life but one of the key things on my mind was getting and destroying all those case backs. My trusty 5lb hammer sorted that out already

Maybe I'm thinking of another UK seller who I became aware of on TOF. IIRC, that seller had gone through a progression of ebay names. Am I thinking of the same seller or is there another scheister to be aware of?

Bejoo4 has a number of other accounts on eBay, I believe. One of them is retroo1. I remember seeing a thread with a list of eBay buyers blacklisted by WS members a while back. Maybe it might be a good idea to start one for eBay sellers? It would help prevent novice buyers overpaying for loads of cobbled crap.
