My old buddy Chuck put this watch up for sale, hundreds of dollars less than the going rate, so I decided to swoop on it, and see what all the fuss was about.
Oh, and sometimes when I buy from Chuck, folks write to warn me that he gets his watches cheap on Yahoo Japan, and that he is "ripping me off". Phooey, I say! His prices are almost always lower than the "going rate" (like in this current example) and if he got it cheap and is making some good money, then more power to him!
Well, what a strange "bird box" has arrived!?

Some local newspapers...

And a big white box. Can't see any brand on it anywhere??

Oh, there it is! Huh, that was weird how the bubble-wrap hid the silver Seiko so well. Diffraction? Diffusion? Distraction? Confusion?

A smaller white box is inside the big one...

And "Poof!" there it is! a 2015 Seiko SBDC027, Limited Edition "Sumo", with it's 6105 inspired dial and hands, with the ubiquitous 6R15 movement inside. Hacking, hand-wind and automatic, with decent accuracy and power reserve.
Thank you Chuck for saving and providing every single scrap of original kit, including the three (3!) hang tags!

I was not all that impressed with the pictures I had seen online, but in person this is a very handsome watch, and the "coated" bezel is very impressive.
I could never warm up to the original Sumos, I didn't like the bezel font at all, while the hands and hour markers were not my favorites either. But this one is really alright!

Here is a picture of the crown side of the case. Very interesting curves here, and my favorite "S" crown.

Here is the other/plain/case/subject/common side. Look at how the bezel is incorporated into the case, and how the lugs bend down. Intriguing!

A picture of the very smooth and almost "glowing" bracelet and clasp. What a finish!

And the case-back, with some of the vital data hidden by the "new-blue" protector.

Wow, it has quite a presence on the wrist, especially if you have been wearing little vintage watches recently!
And I notice this example has everything perfectly aligned, the bezel, chapter ring and the dial. Woohoo!

And here is an excellent view of how the bezel and case interplay at the lugs. Very unusual, don't you think?

Well, I didn't think I would be that impressed, but I am! In fact I realize now that I was so dazzled I forgot to take a lume shot!! OMG!
Thanks for checking it out with me, I hope you liked the pictures!
