As mentioned the other day in the "What have you got coming in the mail ? " thread, I bought my youngest daughter a blue G shock for her birthday. This turned up yesterday. Right model but nothing like the vibrant colour in the pic. In everything except direct sunlight it looks not much different to the black one I have. My daughter didn't like it, so back it goes and the hunt continues for a brightly coloured G at a reasonable price. Good job her birthday isn't until July !

I so understand your disappointment. I have several black dialed watches that I really thought were a nice shade of purple. Buy your daughter a car and she'll be just as happy.

I know what you mean. Some time ago I got quite excited (steady!!) about the latest Gulfman (GR9110ER-2) I really liked the two tone colour contrast. So, when I finally ordered one and it arrived my disappointment was great very underwhelming.

I would send them back too. What a difference a picture makes.

It is a case of when ........." The die really Dies ". The Die they use fades when it cools, Some others have a plastic mix compound mixed together, then you do not have .... " 100 % Colors ". But the Plastic mix projects the shine.

That's a bummer Dani.
I saw somewhere a fellow dyed a transparent G Shock red and it looked like strawberry jelly, yummy. A blue one would be cool.

Really sorry to hear of a gift that wasn't loved. You can still have a gift out of this. Get your daughter involved now she knows the gift. You can restore and involve her if that's any interest. I've done a few G Shock re-colors that I'm stoked with. It's really easy and satisfying. You just need a clear white or light jelly model and use clothes dye. I did it for a friend and it has stayed put and vibrant for over 1.5yrs worn daily for nursing. Pity yours is so dark. It won't pick up the new color. Attachments:

And the images of prepared foods shown on TV commercials never match the real thing; but that's understandable since the TV fare is in no way edible.
(I've noticed the same Casio model shown by two different ebay vendors displays different shades of color. One model advertised as "blue" looks blue in one vendors pic, but black in another's.) The ebay vendor's pic appearing blue is shown.

That model is an older one but great digital visibility IMO! Too bad the photo did not reflect the true blue. Most of those came in blue, black or red. I once thought to buy it for my ageing eyes....I do have a nice yellow older Mudman...

Well it would appear that photographing G Shocks results in some odd colour differences. I saw a red one advertised on Evilbay, which looked pink and my daughter said she liked it . Got it for only £36 inc postage so was well chuffed. Seller's pic: What arrived was VERY red, and I tried to take a picture to show the difference , it's PINK Here's a pic stolen from Amazon to show it's actual colour I think a little research is called for in future as I really should have known better Fortunately my daughter likes it better than a pink one. :winner:

Yes, you have to be careful when judging the Casio colors as many sites don't really care about capturing the real color. Living in Japan, I get to see all the current and vintage models in the stores. You can try to visit the G Shock OEM sites and see the original colors. Or visit by googling some G Shock forums and see the photo posts. Part of the reason the true colors are not properly captured is that these colors are so original each year that amateur photos do not know how to capture the original colors. If you see a model you like, you can try googling it and compare the photo colors.
