I had a nice conversation with a gentleman claiming to have bought his 6139- 6005 in Saigon in 1969... It was a later, resist caseback, no text on dial, flared bracelet, serial a late 73...he still insisted he bought it in Nam in 69, pulled the auction and re-listed with more carefull wording. no acknowledgement .

He has a lot of 15 of those dials running now. Currently at $116 I think he would have been better off listing them individually. I'm sure their are 15 people who have $50-$75 each who need a dial vs one person who has $400-$500 to spend on the lot.

I felt my balls come up into my throat until I looked at the current auction for the 6105 dials. From the first pic I thought it was nos treasure (and couldn't understand why you told him $50 ea). Now I see it is nothing for me to lose my s#@t over. None of them are as good as the one in my watch (and I paid $260 for that over 7 years ago!). :-)

Update: I just got a message from the seller saying "thank you" so it's all good in the hood and I wish him luck

That depends. A number of those dials look like they're missing feet and are in somewhat poor condition. Currently at $116 I think he would have been better off listing them individually. I'm sure their are 15 people who have $50-$75 each who need a dial vs one person who has $400-$500 to spend on the lot.

I'm sure their are 15 people who have $50-$75 each who need a dial vs one person who has $400-$500 to spend on the lot. I count 5 Proof dials. All have complete minute tracks. 1 is missing the Seiko logo and 1 logo bent. 2 dials show staining or discoloration (which may be able to be cleaned) Almost all of the hour frames are clean and corrosion free and would only need a professional relume. If a bad puppy mill all aftermarket 6105 can sell for $500 I'm sure a 75% condition original dial is worth at least $50 to ANY Seiko collector. As you mentioned 5 dials are missing both feet. I'm not sure about the "tilt" of the others if they are missing 1 foot or not. I know a guy who can take care of that for you though.

The listing has the seller's location as Honolulu - perhaps Louis can walk on over and see them in person!
Eh, Longbike??
Aloha!

As nice as you guys are, I don't understand the messaging to let a seller know he is underpricing his wares. Let the market take care of it.
I'd have loved to score those Pogue cases and make a few rupees on the dials too.
I applaud your noble efforts but can't imagine doing it myself. This is dog eat dog Seiko collecting.

If it was a BIN I am all for FTW. However unfortunately I was born with at least half a conscience (can you image what the world would be like if I hadn't been ) and am forced to exercise at least the 1 time rule where you decline payment for your good deed unless the other party continues to feel compelled to compensate you and which point your are forced to accept so that all parties can part amicably. This should be posted in the word of the day thread

I think he/she would have done better, they the dials were sold individually. That is what I was saying. There is a large pool of potential buyers who need an original dial to restore their watches. Most of them would / could spent $50, $75, or maybe even $100 for the proof ones however the high price for the lot took a lot or potential buyers out of the running. Lets see how long it takes for the buyer to relist them individually like that one person (I'll refrain from my real thoughts on them and their practices) who bought the NOS 6105 for $200 and subsequently immediately listed it the day they got it in the exact same marketplace he jacked it from from. Don't shit where you sleep.
