My watch guy pulled this sports diver out of his bag of parts watches to show me. I went back the next day to ask if he'd like someone (me) to pay him to service it and we struck a deal. I found a new crystal on eBay and then waited patiently... It's one of my favourites and original bracelets on these seem rarer than hens teeth. 3N serial number makes it my second birth year watch and only a few months younger than me. Taking a look at the back to confirm the serial number I see 'Japan L' under the serial. I've seen Japan A before, but what does the L signify? Hey tritto, ..... Maybe it stands for ..... Long Lasting and Loveable. Maybe ...... " Limited Edition ".

Attachment DeletedI plan to be in this thing right down to the Cooter arrival time tiebreaker. Until Josh rules on documenting non-date watches I'm adding this extra pic as a safety precaution. Credit to Tritto on Day 1 for the newspaper pic idea. Sorry I don't have a high falutin' financial paper in the house today.

Nice watches everyone. I don't yet have a birth year watch. I may, and if I do it is in AU being serviced. Within hours of me being born, my mom was watching the first man step on the moon from the hospital room tv.

Here's my August 1976 6306-7000. While August is not my birth month the watch was purchased by the original owner during my birth month I picked this one up off of Ebay maybe 13 years ago from a seller in Australia. The auction was listed as a 6308 and was at $15 or so at the time and I emailed the seller that I would give him $175 for it. After 2 days had gone by he said he would sell it to me for $175 even though he had received offers for more money because I was the only one who gave him an honest up front offer the first time and everyone else was trying to get it for $20 or $30 and kept increasing their offers when he refused. The seller said he was the original owner of the watch and that he had purchased it in Hong King in December of 1976 while on "holiday" with his family.

Not a birth year watch as I don't have any from 1961. Just my regular WRUW post and it's this one for the week:
