This one was built with off the shelf parts from Otte Frei and a donor ETA 2824 from a Tissot PR50 I got for $10 which was exactly like the one Tristan showed the other day. Here's the before shot. Today. It not too bad but the case is scratched, the bezel is scratched and dinged, the crystal is scratched, the stem is bent, and it stopped running when a jewel fell out. Spencer got it running again for me but I told him to keep the wabi as this is the only watch I ever really "wrecked".

I thought I'd be out today, but then I remembered this one. I purchased it new from Nordstroms about 16 years ago, and wore it quite a bit. As you can see from the crystal @ case, it has got some wabi. The crown/stem is now broken, so I can no longer set the time/date. Then one day, when I was assisting in a kitchen installation (cabinets and appliances), this damage occurred. I was lying on my back under the cabinet, helping line up the new cooktop.....and POW! My coworker "thought" he had shut the breaker off, but obviously didn't, because when the 110 volt wire for the cooktop, made contact with my watch, it made quite a arc...right next to my face.

I'm sure many of you are aware that I have a hard time wearing only one watch per day, so here's a mid-morning switch to a SNZG09.

Forgot to prove the pics were taken today, so this should cover it. As you can see, I was so distraught with the loss of my watch, that I had to go buy a replacement when it died. The newer one needs a battery change, but I can't get the damn caseback off.

Got this as a gift many years ago, it's my beater work watch when the going gets tough. Notice the blue epoxy paint from when I painted my pool 6 years ago. Nice gouges in the plastic case. It's a Timex so it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' (wait,......). Attachment Deleted

I bought this NOS and wasn't able to overcome the force of the ding magnet that is the Samurai bezel.

Woohoo! Starting an new, and interesting, Seiko family today ,,,So, this was part of my second "package" order from Reto, back in the spring of 2005, a Seiko watch with a style of movement I had never heard about before, a "Kinetic" movement. Similar to an automatic, it had a rotor weight that swung around, but instead of winding a spring, it moved a magnet through a coil of wire to generate electricity which was stored in a capacitor/battery to run a quartz timekeeping system! I decided to give it a try since I really liked the "diver" styling of the watch, with it's functional black and white color scheme, serious looking rectangular, silver-outlined hour markers, raised chapter ring, uni-directional timer bezel with very distinctive numbering and sword shaped hands. With only a 100m water resistance rating and a non-screw-down crown, I figured it wasn't a real diver watch, but it certainly had some style. I decided this style category of watch should be called a "cocktail diver", in the image of standing around a summer pool party, looking good but with no real intention of getting wet! I still wear it on the debonair solid-link original stainless steel bracelet, with a locking deployant clasp, my only gripe is that the clasp is a 'pick-open" style instead of a two-button design. This model, and tomorrow's version, were the most common members of this SKA0xx family, and were even sold as US models (gasp!) toward the end of their "run". But soon we'll see some much rarer version included the very rarest, my original "grail" watch, toward the end of the week. - Thomas P.S. Darn it! I hate when the date is wrong and you don't notice until after you've posted your pictures!!! I swear it said "8" when I set it this morning, I must have been 12 hours off! This is so embarrassing!

I knew I might have a problem with today ! If you look really closely you'll see there's a tiny scratch on the bracelet . That's as Wabi'd as I hope it'll ever get. You got a pic of said "wabi"?

A 1970's Longines flagship not bought new but I love how the dial has aged. For scoring purposes was the watch mint when you got it and then it aged or was it already previously loved when you got it?

Here's my contribution for today's theme. From the front and sides, still new like it was when I bought it a few months ago. On the case back however, you can see the effects of my stupidity when my hand slipped while trying to unscrew the back.

Like I said, it's tiny . But it is there.I did it while trying to see if a strap would look good on it. It didn't
