Hey guys, So after a hot rodder mate of mine saw my 6105 and 6309's he decided to chuck a bid on one from the Phillipines listed as all original. I actually thought it did look quite good with the hands being the only thing I'm unsure of. They do look original and stated as such but I thought I'd get your opinions. I do have a bunch of original hands I could swap if we needed to but I think these are original. I also think he got it for a pretty decent price around what the market average would be ($330 Aus by the time it's landed). Anyway let me know what you all think. He knows it needs a service and reseal so we're aware of that already. www.ebay.com.au/ulk/itm/391299715094

Dial, Hands and bezel insert look ok to me. Case seems to be polished. Any ideas about the condition of the threads? Does the crown still screw down securely?

It says the crown screws to lock so we'll see. I had another look as I didn't think of it but I don't think the case looks over polished as I can still see usual scratches and stuff.
Glad you agree that the other parts look original.

It purports to be a Suwa dial, but it's doesn't look like it has a bevel around the date window (although it's a little hard to tell).

Indeed it is hard to see so I've blown up the pic a bit: The bevel is there (and some fading to the left part of the dial text at the bottom I'm afraid)...

I normally don't buy from that part of the world, but nothing about that watch jumps out to me as a 'red flag'.
If the crown tube threads are okay and the caseback sealing surfaces aren't roached out, then I'd say it wasn't a terrible deal.

Thanks for some more opinions guys. The bevel was something I looked for also.
I agree with Cobrajet that initially I was a bit iffy due to the region however it looked to me to be authentic and in good condition.
The movement pictures show a pretty clean movement and it doesn't have a plastic holding ring like the later 6309 diver or dress watches have indicating to me an original movement also.

That's not a seller I'd ever consider buying from, but that 6309 looks pretty good.

Remember on the beveled windows that there was a change on later production models. From 1981...

That looks like it's from apol, if I'm right. I bought a couple from him when I was starting out collecting. Usually, as far as I know his stuff has less AM compared to other sellers from that area (like the dial, etc.) but he has a tendency to have almost all his cases polished unfortunately. I still have a 6139-7100 Helmet I got from him a while back, which I re-cased.
One thing I've got to hand to him though is that he gave me a free repair service after the watch arrived with chrono problems. Though I'm pretty certain his service wouldn't be anywhere near the grade of those we have on the forums here, that Helmet is one of my most accurate automatic watches with the longest power reserve of all my chronos.
