Yes, I thinks so too. Seiko did make some Quartz 5s. But they surely didn't have 21 jewels and they didn't have '7009' stamped on the back. This one is a fake. I found a quite similar one in a German forum: www.uhrzeit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3082

Just because it's funny. Listed as a 7009. Bonus points for adding a dial code and shrinking the Made in Japan...Listing says it's all original so... Seiko did make "5" quartzes, apparently to promote the acutal thing, but they dropped the idea and didn't produce many of these. Some forum members have come across these and I have seen posts about them. However, I have not seen one with a jewel count, but since they were (most likely) to promote the actual thing, it might aswel be a real thing. I recently bid on a Seiko 5 Superior Quartz, but had to stop bidding, as I didn't think it was worth the venture (it had an autenthic bracelet and build quality looked right to me). But if the thing was real, I would be really interested to know what movement it had inside. Please, if this turns out to be real, let us know what movement is inside. My biggest pause was the 7009 wasn't ever a 21 jewel in my looking. While I have read about Seiko making a Quartz "5" I was always under the impression the most undeniably 1 of the 5 was "Automatic movement" where others were debatable? As with most things Seiko never say never or always.

What's the experts' opinion on this one? The seller, psrtyinmyhair, on eBay doesn't have the greatest of reputations.

No glasses and definetly has scratches.
When the case looks like that, no way the crystal would be scratch free (unless replaced).

I'm thinking of buying this "black navy" Grand Seiko 5645-7010 from yahoo auctions imgur.com/a/bNcIiXyapparently this dial was only made in white or blue but over time the blue sometimes darkens but I'm slightly concerned that this is a redial. the text at the very bottom looks off but its hard to tell from the pics what does everyone think? also it will cost me around $700 all in. If I hate the watch when I get it do you think I can flip it to someone else for the same amount?

gmehra1981 - welcome! I am not an expert on those watches, so would only add that if you have any doubt, just wait for the next one. You don't want to be the guy trying to pass off a turd to the next victim. That said, I don't see anything wrong with the watch you posted - again, I know nothing about this model, but normal after market tells aren't there for me

I wanted to say thank you for having this thread! I have inherited so many watches that I don’t know the history of. Having a place to discuss it is wonderful. 7s26-0020 sks399 It’s a rare one, that sometimes is accused of being a fekio. I have a lot of weird ones like this, as my dad collected for over 30 years and picked up rare gems that were not expensive, but just not many people knew about. But because of this, I am going to have some interesting watches to learn about and figure out what parts are aftermarket and what are OEM. It’s an adventure.

Here are both my 7s26-0020 together. I have had conversations in the past regarding the Pepsi. I know the one on the left is an skx399 and I think the Pepsi is a skx401 with a possible bezel replacement?

I am determining that the SKX399 is legit the SKX401 is not. It’s a decent copy, but it’s not the 401.

Skx399 it’s yellow and not raised Skx399 it’s orange and raised The skx401 is a beautiful shade of Navy. I just am not familiar enough to make a call.

So a couple of housekeeping bits before we address legitimacy etc.:
There are various other models of different dial and bezel combinations that carry the dial code 7S26-0020 It can be an SKX007 or an SKX175 (same as SKX009 in terms of dial color and pepsi bezel etc.), the SKX011 (orange) and the 2 models you have, the SKX399 (black dial chrome surrounds black bezel) and lastly the SKX401 (navy blue dial with pepsi bezel).
In your photo you have the names flip-flopped: - Black dial with chrome hour marker surrounds is the SKX399 - Navy blue dial with chrome hour marker surrounds and pepsi bezel is the SKX401

Yes. Black is skx399. I am pretty certain as I was able to track down the seller to my dad.

You mixed up the 399 vs 401 above again. The color of the dial text that starts off as bright red fades to an orange, yellow and even green (!) so no worries both are fully legit. The SKX401 takes the exact same bezel as the SKX009 (which in turn is sold as the SKX175 when marketed in USA and Canada) part number 8610 469B. And yours is an OEM Seiko pepsi bezel.
