Well, doesn't the quartz oscillation regulate the "brake" that replaces the escapement, thereby controlling the energy release of the mainspring? I love them...but isn't it just a more evolved form of quartz regulation?

So, what are your thoughts on Spring Drive? I've been bitten by the bug! Are they the greatest thing since sliced bread or overhyped quartz? Attachments:

These are the SRP divers with the rubber shroud...the baby tuna as they are called. Harold makes stainless and coated shrouds for them which make them beefier and more like their big brothers.

Very cool watches. IIRC it was a dead brand and resurrected similar to what happened with Isofrane. Their website should have all the details.
Sizes vary. Their classic diver comes in different materials case sizes and depth ratings, some with power reserve indicator and some with GMT hand.
If I wasn't so attached to Seiko i'd have one. I saw one on someone's wrist last year in Mauii and was so distracted my fiancée got pissed because I kept looking over there!
If ya take the plunge, go orange!

Dig the look and Harold's shrouds go a looooong way in making it better, but I can't get past the bezel font :-(

Being a knick fan, I'll go with the Spurs but I rate it just above watching metal rust as far as interest!

I agree. I'm solely focused on Seiko but am close to veering into the vintage Heuer / Omega realm. I love the Speedy and the Pasadena. Both wonderful straightforward designs. Ahhhh the temptation....

I'd say a 6309-704x and a 6139-6000x would be the place to start on the vintage side. Add in a SKX007/009 and a one of the current SARB alpinist models and you'd have a great representation with four pieces.
