Did anyone get on this? I've only just come across it, which is probably just as well as I'm pretty much spent out (and annoyingly a friend has just sent me details of some nice watches on offer in Belgium which I'm trying to pretend he hasn't so I don't start looking at them. Must..... Resist.... Must.... Resist.... ) Anyway, details of that auction I mentioned (it's been and gone so I'm allowed to direct link yes?) auctions.leonardjoel.com.au/custom_asp/searchresults.asp?st=D&pg=1&ps=60&sale_no=LJ8210+

Seems the auctions over with many lots going unsold? I'll scroll through when I get a chance.

Bloody hell, there were some pretty good bargains in that lot! A year ago I’d have been there in person, and would probably have come out a lot poorer in the wallet but a lot richer in watches!

Lot 135 is my favourite, and I'm not in the same league as some of you WIS-wise but it looks like an absolute bargain to me.

Lot 46 caught my eye - that little lot, for around £80!! FFS!

Please tell me that one of our lot got in on the action? Although I've seen nothing in the 'incoming' thread (which I have to say is one of my absolute favourites but very very bad for enabling more purchases!)

Yes some steals! I imagine the auction house adds a hefty percentage and shipping fees and insurance, etc. That might dilute the bargain value a bit

Crap. I was actually aware if this auction and scrolled through a few pages (horrendously slow website and low res pictures they took ages to open), but I was on holiday and forgot to go back and register and bid. The 25% buyers premium put me off too.

Even at 25% premium, there were some decent bargains in there. A year too late for me. Maybe just as well...

Yes 25% would be steep, but a $300 lot ad 25% is $375 (if my math is right), for 13 watch, 12 Seiko, 2 were Sports one a 70 proof? hell those are $100-$150 all day long on eBay...BIN$125 and gone before the days over. The other 10 could have gone just as high or higher. Not knowing what they are though whose to say. They all look very very clean. I hope some of them do show up.

Bugger, I had my hopes pinned on one of your, "Look what I picked up for a broken shoelace and some pre-chewed bubblegum" threads where you showed stuff I could drool over.

Ha ha. I do enjoy writing those threads pip. 😃 I’m trying to get my act together for a small sell off to fund something I like from another member, and my watch guy has put aside a couple of cool things to work on out of his junk box before he retires, but no barn finds this month 😢

Most of the people that enter barns where you live are killed and eaten by huge spiders and the legendary drop-bears so there must be plenty of good watches laying around in barns out there, you just have to be brave enough to try and retrieve them...

Am I missing something obvious - what's with the high prices for those 7002's? Auction frenzy?

I bought a bunch of it. Will do a YouTube video when it arrives.
I passed on the carton of divers and chronos though as the bidding was insane...
Buyer fatigue set in about half way through. I was mainly after the drawers of gear more so than watches but did purchase a few watch lots.
Should keep me busy flipping for like 3 years...

I don't know, but I don't think there was much auction frenzy going on here looking at the overall prices achieved. I guess at least two people either wanted it or thought they could make a profit on it and bid against each other.

From buyer fatigue, I mean from other bidders. There was a frenzy for the diver's gear. I know someone that was at the auction house and gave me some intel as to what was in the boxes. There were some hidden gems you can't see in the photos. Fantastic! I'm really glad someone from here got in on it. I'll look forward to your video. And you must be different to me (or been doing this a lot longer more like). I never get buyer fatigue, only wallet fatigue...

There was a nice black dialled 6217 7000 world timer there that I was thinking of bidding on. I should go check to see what it went for. The problem with no being there was that the pictures weren’t great (one face on picture per lot and not high res). There could have been all sorts of stuff in the boxes, but you wouldn’t know unless you could see it in person. Good to hear you got some good stuff Adrian.
