Our esteemed and disguished member pip began the tradition of International Pogue Day 7 years ago today, to honor the late great Colonel William Pogue and his historical smuggling of a Seiko 6139-6005 onto a space station Skylab mission back in 1973.
Here is his original thread where Pip literally INVENTED International Pogue Day and we are grateful for it !
So here we are in 2023, 7 IPDs under our belt now. I'll play with this one, my Pogue Family Photo, from Left to Right:
6139-6031 Coke Pogue on OEM NOS JDM bracelet and OEM NOS black and red tachy ring that being a spare part has the 'box at 60' that never existed when built but clearly was included in the spare parts department funnel for re-supply at a later time
6139-6002 Teal Sunrise Pogue on Uncle Seiko version of the JDM (I supplied some parts to him for his pattern that is now unique) fully rebuilt and expertly relumed by Guy Jeffrey at Rexworthy Watches in the UK (aka our very own @ GuyJ )
6139-6000 Blue Pogue JDM dial March 1969 rebuilt and re-lumed by our very own Adrian of Vintage Time Australia aka @ Adrian-VTA on OEM NOS JDM
6139-6000 Yellow Pogue JDM April 1969 with unique yellow hands, now rebuilt and re-lumed by Adrian of VTA but in this photo shown pre-restoration on OEM NOS JDM
6139-6002 Silver RESIST dial January 1971 fully rebuilt by the master of 6139s our very own Tom aka SeikoPsycho on OEM President
6139 now sold off

Not wearing it today as it's with Guy at Rexworthy Watches but it's IPD so got to share it! March 1969, matte hands and CRC still fitted. The crystal will be heading to Ben Levy for a polish and Guy is doing a full relume. Will be fitting an Uncle Seiko bracelet when it comes back hopefully in time for Christmas!

I was a participant in the original Pogue Day and I would have been wearing this watch - I think the earliest purchase on the watch journey that I still have (around 2010?). I treated it to a new set of gaskets last night as the pushers were getting sticky.

Not the prettiest but it's from '73 and looks much like the real deal.

The watch that started it all for me. I had been longing for this model for quite some time but as a kid couldn't pull off it's purchase until I received my first pay check and purchased it at the Army PX for $75..........

My first foray into watch tinkering and what brought me to this forum was this May of 1971 6139-6002 Pogue
Enjoyed with my Skylab Latte in my Skylab mug

Great to see that this thing we started still has legs and has grown quite a lot since the first one!

No yellow dial in my collection but I do have this which I now know (thanks to SeikoPsycho) is a -6000 from early ‘70. I treated it to a full service and dial re-lume (my first attempt at both), NOS handset from Stefan and mounted on an Uncle Seiko President. Caseback is incorrect, but what do I care?

I hate to spoil it. I don't have a Pogue. And I am sure there is none inside...
