So called Baby Arnie H556-5029. Original bracelet. Fully functional including alarm and light which is a big plus. I'll clean it up; fresh battery and gaskets. Need to source a crystal, preferably aftermarket to keep cost down (if anyone has suggestions). The original "Arnie" is a little rich for me, so for what I paid, I'm happy to settle for the little brother.
I have an army green NATO for it. I think it looks better than the bracelet.

Another "$10.00 Special." Actually it was only $19.95
"But wait, there's more! If you act now, the first 37,000 callers will receive another Seiko 7123-8439 for the low introductory price of only $19.95. Act fast, supplies are limited."
I like the dial color and texture. Original bracelet although with a little stretch. I think it'll clean up nicely.

I hope it runs! The caliber 7123 is a bit of a dog. Pity, because they put that movement in some cool watches. Certainly worth $20, though.

Th crystal on this one is 305W22GN00 and is 1.88mm thick.
When I got mine, I used a generic sapphire crystal I'd bought a while back measuring 30.5mm across, 1.8mm thick and flat on both sides. The replacement has a smaller bevel but not noticeable unless you get into loupe use.
I would recommend this as an upgrade unless you don't mind the OEM cost plus the commensurate scratches. Also don't forget to grab a gasket for the crystal.
As a word of caution, that chapter ring is a princess and you have to be gentle with it. Make sure the crystal and the ring are clean clean clean. If not, and you get some any fingerprints or fluff trapped in that space, you'll have to remove the crystal as you will not be able to clean the inside of the crystal or the ring once installed. It's sketchy enough having to do it once.
All the best.

$10 1983 special never serviced with fresh battery going since Saturday morning. I’d say we’re doing alright!

Who doesn't love a cheap 7A? This one actually arrived before I could post it here. Seller was great!
It is a 7A38-7280. It dates to November, 1988...making it one of the last of it's kind. The seller advertised it as non-running, and said they had taken it to a watchmaker who determined they could not fix it. Caseback was a bear to get off, which made me suspect this 'watchmaker' hadn't even bothered to look under the hood. I was expecting battery or water leakage, which are really the only two things that can take these bulletproof movements out of action. Once the back was off, I saw a completely intact Sony battery and a movement without a speck of rust. So far, so good.
With a little quick fiddling I was able to get the 1/5th register hand and sweep second hand moving. But the time and minute registers wouldn't even twitch. I took the top plate and circuit block off, as well as the green plastic movement spacer. What greeted me was just more spotlessness. I decided to simply make sure all the internal contacts were clean, lube all of the lower pivots, and put the watch back together...just to see where I stood.
She fired right up, and everything worked flawlessly!
Case and bracelet were nasty, and cleaning them up took way longer than getting the watch running. I put in new seals. Not really my favorite model, but it was so cheap I could not resist the challenge. Here she is!

My next piece of work for your perusal. 4205-0152. Might go mad and mod this one. I'm feeling red. Lots of work before that however.

Thanks! Seiko deserves most of the credit, though. The 7A-series watches are just very, very well made, and very easy to work on.

Had to get another one and by that I mean a 7002 but never had a 7001 “Made in Japan” before. Sold (3) 7009’s and (1) 700A in the past... and recently regretted not having one in the box... as we all know finding one not fussed with is a challenge but in nice condition on original GL831(22) even harder. I’ve stayed away from SleazeBay lately... but returned and was happily surprised to find this one... and, with an extra push from my pal Guy took the plunge. Incoming 7002-7001 from Mar. of ‘91. How about a "gaggle of watches" A Tempest of watches Tempest or temptation? If you're on a buying spree, a tempest of watches it is.
