Having dabbled in leatherworking myself, I'll warn you that it is a rabbit-hole all its own. mnem dragonhide requires upkeep, yo.
Might end up making your own shoes. And leather armours. Then start noticing that a great majority of leather goods at the mall are just garbage.

Once you start there are all sorts of things you can turn your hand to. I lost my sunglass case recently and decided it can't be that hard to make my own.

Are you still making kangaroo skin straps Trist? Occasionally. I prefer to stick to leather natos these days as they're easier, quicker and more repeatable (ie, less likely to be unsatisfactory).

Further to the discussion of leather working, it reminds me of when I was in high school. I was into tooling leather. I used to make wallets, purses, belts, and even artwork. I made this picture (it has some “patina” on it and all the colors have faded) for my grandfather (he was really into horses) and after he passed, I got it back. I haven’t done any leatherwork since then but I still have all of my tools. I have been meaning to get back into it but I got into watch repair instead and it will have to wait I guess. Back to the topic, this Astronaut is on its way to me. I broke one of my rules to not buy from shopgoodwill.com, but I couldn’t pass it up. I hope it only needs a battery and a good cleaning, otherwise I paid way too much for it. Update: the astronaut is running great. I ordered a new crystal for it and will be doing a complete tear down and cleaning. I will tidy up the case and bracelet too. Should be a great looking watch when it’s done.

saldogTremendous leather work. Proportions are spot on! Looks almost like embossed copper.

Mmmmm... very good work; uniform texture in broad areas is one of the most difficult aspects to master. My particular rabbit-hole was tack and saddlery; I grew up on a farm full of such pasture ornaments. mnem 1001 uses for a #9 rivet.

Ten days ago my package arrived at Narita, where it sat in a shipping container for 5 days, not moving. A "what gives" message to Buyee got it moving again and a couple days later it had passed through NY customs in the USA.
A couple days later it popped up in Carolina PR - that's Carolina, Puerto Rico, not North Carolina, where I live. It then went to the local distribution center in PR where, last night, the post office finally figured out they were going to have problems delivering it if they didn't put it back on a plane.
So now I'm watching it go back to the Carolina PR distro center, after which it will probably return to CONUS and hopefully, NC.
I have another package that went to Narita last night, so it's now a race to see which of these will get to me first. I'd complain, but USPS is still much better than DHL!

What a mess victor , I hope they get it right soon!
saldog - Your leatherwork is amazing! I don't know anything about it but I can spot craftsmanship and dedication when I see it. Nicely done, I bet your Grandfather loved it!

My first pulsemeter
Seller's picture of an Alba Y950-505A that I had to use a different buying service because the seller blocked the Buyee purchasebot. It's on a Seiko SQ bracelet but it looks the part to me!

Yeah, a UK friend of mine in another forum recently had an item sold on eBay for delivery to the UK (literally aboot 30 minutes from him) that somehow got routed to Germany. Now they're trying to just pay him off for a "lost parcel" because they don't want to eat the import fees to bring it back to the UK. mnem

I never learn - I'm never very satisfied with digital watches, but they were such a big deal back when I was a kid....
And anyway, the subject line for this auction was "Animal Junk Citizen Quartz Crystron" so how could I not take a flyer on it?

Another bargain at 26€ shipped. All original 7546-8270 Seller pic Received the watch yesterday, except it wasn't the watch I bought. I sent a message to the seller and he immediately called to me, apologized and explained it all. He had over 30 watches to sort out and post, and during packaging he had made mix up. I told him no worries and that I understand fully, it's not every day one goes through 30 watches! I agreed to send the watch back to him on me and he would send the correct watch to me, which would be on him. He insisted on adding few extra watches as compensation! Great experience and what a pleasure to deal with such a straight up and honest chap. I gave him top reviews!

This one appears practically unworn and is running well, so I thought it was a good purchase.
I've also removed everything from my watch list and am trying to sit on my hands for a bit and not bid on anything else.

After looking through ana digi’s on eBay, came across this from ‘99 which caught my eye. Offer accepted at £40, not sure now whether I really like it all that much but I’ll still wear it for a bit and see how it goes. Due to arrive today. First think I’ll do is repaint the bezel lettering
