Question open to the community .
After buying a NOS watch I ask myself a philosophical question Should we wear NOS watches with the risk of damaging them and use them for what they are made for or should we preserve them from external aggression and leave them imaculated. That's my evening philosophical question
What do you think your point of view interests me .

Should we wear NOS watches? Yes! If you can't wear a watch, it has no value.

If your not a museum....then either buy one for an investment or to wear IMO. If the former then put it in a safety deposit box, the latter then wear and enjoy.

well i have often wondered this myself.....for me...a watch is NOS only once...and with prices crazy for them...i would be hard pressed to wear them...i would much rather have one with a few bumps and bruises and wear that one...but it is your money and it is yours to do with it as you please...i am very easy on a watch...i never wear one when i know it can get damaged...and i wear a very old 6106 daily that i do not worry about ...

I personally vote to wear them. My 36000 bph Lord Marvel (avatar pic) was NOS when I got it. Why not wear it, it's not like I am going to save it and then flip it for a profit.
When you buy a new watch you don't consider even for 1 second (or 1/10th of a second if you bought a chrono - LOL) to stuff it in a drawer for 25 years from now, do you?
Wear it my friend and let any nicks, scratches, dings, dents or the like be yours.

If you're looking at it as an investment to sell later, then you can keep it in storage and it can remain NOS.
If you got it for your own enjoyment and don't plan on selling it any time soon, then my opinion would be to wear it. But try to be as careful with it as possible.

Most 'NOS' watches are not truly NOS i that they may have changed hands several times since being purchased from the original retailer.
So, unless it is really rare and is truly come from the original retailer after it was discontinued; it's just a used watch and should be worn.

Wear it and enjoy it! This. The most enjoyable thing you can do is wear the watch. Why deprive yourself?

wear them, appreciate them, discuss them, but I don't consider watches an investment other than entertainment value

If you bought the watch as an investment (which is always a bad idea) I would say definitely do not wear it.
However unless you bought the watch the day it arrived in the store from the Seiko factory you can't be 100% sure that it was never cut ro stepped on, I mean strapped on or worn around the house or maybe worse by every hand that it passed through.
If you have a non addictive or non OCD or whatever type personality and would be fully content owning only 1 or 2 watches and wanted something vintage for whatever reason then by all means I would fully recommend wearing and enjoying it.

Do we own things or do things own us?
If I owned a NOS "vintage" watch, I'd wear the hell out of it. That's where the enjoyment is.

If I owned a NOS "vintage" watch, I'd wear the hell out of it. That's where the enjoyment is. I told myself that back when I bought my Rolex 5513 Sub. I told myself to justify the way out of my comfort zone price that "If I paid that much for a watch I would wear the shit out of it" I wore it 5 times in 3 years. Luckily I sold it for what I paid for it. When I bought my GS GMT which 10 years later was the same amount as the 5513 was I told myself I should not buy it because it was way out of my comfort zone pricewise and would most likely just sit in the box as well. I force myself to wear it but everytime I notice another scratch or mark I think of how much that will depreciate it should I decide to sell it some day

Truly NOS watches I don't wear. The way I figure it, the watch went 40-50 years without a scratch...and I don't want to be the one to put the first scratch on it.
Some watches are "survivors", and I think they should continue to survive...for posterity, if nothing else.

I say wear the hell out of it. A watch is a watch, lucky for you it is NOS and you get to do the first few scratches!!!
The only situation where I see a NOS watch being purchased and not being worn is if the buyer is a museum.

I would say most definetly. I buy watches because I like them and like to wear them.
Unless you are buying to start a museum or for a museum, that would be different.
But, my (from new) MM300 gets alot of wear. Also has a few scars to prove it. As long as you don't abuse them, they hardly ever get a scratch. You can always wear a long sleeve for extra cushioning when out and about.
At the end of the day, it's your watch. Enjoy it to the full of your own comfort zone.
