As more time passes, I find that I've become less and less hard-core about Seiko purity in many cases. The hobby is meant to be enjoyed. If that means modded watches with whatever model dials etc, then so be it. If John wants to make quasi home-baked tunas and people buy them and like them, that's fine. If I had the money (and wasn't banned from SCWF) I might consider buying one. I have no doubt, that if you contacted him to make a purchase, he'd gladly take your money. laugh1.gif So true!

I just saw it is the first product ever available through the forum market. O M G. I did not realize that. Now I understand why this thread was started. I guess my question is not whether or not this is an appropriate venue to sell the product but rather what is the purpose of that forum market? I had always assumed it would forum branded shirts and mugs and what not. Hard to say where things are going to go given that the site is owned by a commercial company now. Ah well... The SCWF market is not John's playground,it's open for other sellers as well, Jonathan ,Rob, Jake, Harold etc etc could all use it .

They never had anything like it, until it was created here.

So why not just fabricate cases from stock that fit the ring ? Rather than ruin the real deal....

No doubt...The reason I ask is Watchmakers produce a full watch from stock...So if the talent is so great why produce backwards when the rewards are much greater producing a watch case that supports a Seiko movement or if one wants just about any movement...Then one can call it what they want because it is 100% original.

Control in originality and the fact that if one produces there own cases they can fit any movement not just Seikos, There are better movements out there....

Haha I'm glad we cleared that up. I've done a few case mods, but wouldn't have this done simply because I like going through the process myself. When I go back to the States I may talk to my parents' neighbor. He's a retired machinist and we've remanufactured carburetor parts before. He likes to get back to his trade once in a while and I like to tinker, so we're a dangerous combination. Maybe if I can get a cheap skx from Ramon we could try on that. The shroud would no longer fit a 7549 due to crown position but I would think the rest should be the same process.

What market is there here? And when was it created? John's post is dated 7-3-2013. Have a look HERE, it's been there since this forum was created. OK, so the market was here first, but John's post predates Shawn's by five days. I never liked that kind of snarkiness there, and I don't like it here. Quote Groundhog66: A note from the mods re: SCWF Wrist Sushi was founded as a new place to hang out and share our passion for Japanese watches. While upheaval at SCWF may have been the catalyst for this, our intent was never to split the community nor was it to "compete" with SCWF. For most of us, SCWF has been an indispensable resource. I dare say that without it, a fair number of us might not have gotten very far with this hobby of ours. It has also been a source of friendships...the very friendships that led us here. Wrist Sushi and SCWF are two distinct places. We are not a threat to them and they are not a threat to us. Two forums...one community. Its time we stopped the chatter about SCWF and adopt more of a coexistent mindset. They are not going anywhere and neither are we. It's time to be one community. We ask that going forward any negative discussions regarding other forums take place via PM. There is no need for negative energy to creep into any of the Wrist Sushi areas, including the Lounge. Bashing other forums, ridiculing their mods, celebrating when they have difficulties....this is not what Wrist Sushi is about. Some of you are reading this and nodding your head in agreement. Some of you are maybe a bit PO'd. Either way is fine. We are not asking for you to change how you feel. All were are asking is that it stay off the boards. Thanks for your cooperation.

Snarkiness? I was merely stating a fact, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. When Shawn created his thread, the board/idea was already posted. Whether or not John got the idea after he saw it here, I could care less.
