Just throwing out a thought...How about a Group project, Say, The dial from a resident expert, A case from a member who specializes in case refinishing, Movement from a service expert etc... Strap too. Then parts sent to a member for assembly. AnY thoughts on this or is it dead in the water ?

What I would like to see is Lurkering members jump on board, Get involved, Make a friend, Learn alot etc...Opportunity to open up and be alive !!! (It's not the watch, But the collaboration experience is something money doesn't buy.

I would like the "Service a 6497" project to start off Seems like everyone bought a movement and now would have to do it on his own...

I was excited and then nothing... couldn't even find the thread. It wasn't until I made a meager contribution that discovered it had been moved to the benefactor section. By then the ball had been dropped...

We could use a participant to organize this. I have a NOS 6309 stem uncut to start. Quite a variety of cases to choose from, Easily used in a quartz if we decide. endless possibilities. Or I have a complete movement if someone wants to service it.
Even if this doesn't get off the ground, This forum needs a bit of some kind of member participation besides what are you wearing today...

We did a 6309 service group project previously, what are you hoping to do differently? Whatever you need from me, just let me know.

Do you have a 7t32 case? I still need to check it out closer but in my "mystery box" that just arrived I got one complete and at least a couple movements in pieces. I should be able to to get one or two to work I'd think. No dial or hands or anything that I've found yet though... There's definitely some members more qualified than me but I'd sign up to "service" your 6309 movement. It be awesome to have someone grade my work. Does it run now? You could do the before pics and TG numbers. Then send it my way and I'll try not to destroy it. Then ill send it back or forward to someone else for a "grade". Slightly off topic- can you send me a copy of the Wrist-Sushi fist logo? I've got an idea....

I think he means members donate enough parts and services to build and service a watch and then give it away in a contest or use it as another World Traveler.
With a custom Wrist Sushi dial of course.

I was thinking custom wrist sushi case back. But I've got some proof of concept to do first....

Another world traveller would be fun (although the world diver is still travelling). I could do a strap or two and perhaps a travelling pouch?

I'll send you the 6309 and blank new stem so any case accepting a 6309/754X movement will work. It's a start (literally) We are going to need a case to decide Day/Date options and crown. It would be a sign of progress if we had some support from the quiet members, C'Mon join in and have some fun.

I've never had my "work" end up in the hands of another watch guy. It's pretty easy to impress the guys at work lol. So yeah, who else wants to play?!

Bumping this project too. 6309 movement is on it's way to me for a going through. Who wants to case it? I have a reasonably good 6309-7290 case with good click ball. It will need a case back and crystal retaining ring.
I also have a TST prototype given to me by John Bentley. The click ball is missing but ready for a new one with spring. The TST shroud is a prototype that I painted matt black. It is suitable but the watch would probably look better with a metal shroud.
Either case can come with bezel and a really good AM insert. Also there is a movement ring for either one.
So that would leave: crystal, crystal gasket, crystal retaining ring, dial, hands, proper -7290 case back, chapter ring and crown/stem assembly to be added. I do have an AM -7040 dial that is presentable or an AM -7290 dial that look like it is a fake. Also have an AM chapter ring which looks pretty good. Just found a set of AM or SKX hands too. The AM -7040 dial would look good in the TST case.
Let me know if this is of interest...
The standard -7290 case looks just like a million others
